On Sunday 15th September, the Welsh Junior League season came to a conclusion with the Cup Final Match in Brecon and after their very successful campaign in the League, finishing second behind Swansea in the West Division, the Pembrokeshire Harriers team travelled to Brecon to compete against the best Junior teams in Wales…Swansea, Carmarthen, Cardiff, Cardiff Archers, Newport and Wrexham.
In adverse conditions of gusty wind and rain, once again the Harriers athletes competed with great spirit and enthusiasm; perhaps something to do with the fact that they are used to training in such conditions and that it was just a normal day for them!
The team were fourth for most of the day and that is where they finished. This was a very good result, especially as there were many athletes doing events for people who, unfortunately, hadn’t turned up on the day. The team only finished a hundred points or so behind third place, so it augurs well for next season.
Also, once again, a huge thanks to the team managers and their helpers, club officials, tent builders and the hardy band of family and friends who braved the weather to support the young troops. We have such good team spirit on and off the track!
