Doves ease home in 600+ run fest

 

Cresselly 329 for 7 (19) beat Haverfordwest 304 for 9 (8) by 25 runs

 
There were two big centuries and a batsman on either side who departed an agonising one run short of three figures in this run fest of  633 runs between table-topping Cresselly and relegation-threatened Haverfordwest, who lost by just 25 runs in a fascinating fixture.
 
Tom Murphy stroked  13 fours and four sixes in his 106 deliveries before he edged Chris Phillips to Johnny White with Charlie Arthur blitzing  seven fours and NINE big sixes from his 65 balls  before he also part of skipper Phillips’ four-wicket stint as he edged into Shan Perreira’s gloves.
 
Alex Bayley and Dan James also made comparatively modest contributions after that pair had shared a stand of 151 anything other than a big home win seemed out of the question.
 
Doug Johnson batted well early on for The Town but  from 65 for 3 they leapt 218 runs, thanks to the Field brothers before  Ben was next to go on a frustrating 99 as he was adjudged lbw with 11 fours and three sixes to his name. Alongside him Dan smashed 12 fours and NINE sixes as he reached 137 from 83 balls in an innings which showed his raw power and superb ability when things go well.
 
Charlie Arthur (4) and Tom Murphy (3) then turned to wicket-takers and in the final analysis Cresselly edged home – but what a cracking game of cricket played in the best spirit!

Rooks relish the title challenge

 

Saundersfoot  182 all out (5) lost to Carew 186 for 3 (20) by 7 wickets

 
Carew showed their battling spirit as they journeyed to Saundersfoot and returned with maximum haul of points as they successfully chased down their target whilst losing only three wickets and with almost 15 overs in hand against a team brimming with confidence recently after some terrific wins in cup competitions.
 
Simon Stanford,  Gareth Edwards, Tom and John Mansbridge all made useful contributions but Shaun Whitfield, James Hinchliffe and especially Rhys Davies made regular inroads with the ball for Carew.
 
The Rooks have welcomed Morgan Grieve back from college and he has made an impressive return, continuing with  top score here of 66 not out as he joined all-rounder Whitfield in hitting off the winning runs after Adam Chandler had also helped to lay the solid platform for an impressive win!

Troy torments Herbie as winning run ends

 

Herbrandston 135 all out (7) lost to Lawrenny 258 for 8 (20) by 123 runs

 
Herbrandston’s impressive run of performances was brought to a halt as Lawrenny had Aussie run-maker Troy Purslowe topping their batting list with an unbeaten century that included 18 boundaries and two sixes as they were asked to bat first by Herbie and sped to a big score whilst having two wickets still in hand as  Harry Thomas, Joe Kidney and Wil Nicholas gave good support, ably helped by a huge extras total of 31 runs.
 
Dean John, Nathan Banner and Harry Nicholas were the main wicket-takers for Herbie, whilst Harry Nicholas and Dean John also batted well in conjunction with Jack Nicholas but no-one was able to stay long enough to really influence the result against Lawrenny bowlers Rob Williams, Ryan Morton, Oscar and Finley Lewis.

Hardy helps Neyland back to winning ways

 

Neyland 253 for 4 (20) beat Whitland 135 for 9 (5) by 118 runs

 
Neyland showed they could still have an influence in the top echelon as they comfortably disposed of Whitland’s challenge after being asked to bat first and running up a big score before easing home by a sizeable of 118 runs.
 
Dai Davies and especially Ross Hardy (with 13 fours and a six in his speedy innings) were responsible for Neyland’s tally, with Andrew Miller undefeated from a vital late contribution before grabbing four wickets to again show how important a cog he still is in the Neyland wheel.
 
For The Borderers, the wickets were shared and only Gopal Ramasamy made a sizeable contribution from his powerful stroke play as they batted as two wickets each for Jack John and skipper Sean Hannon helped his side to maximum bonus points.

Burton show mercy as Llangwm misery continues

 

Llangwm 107 all out (4) lost to Burton  286 for 4 (Declared after 35 overs) (20) by 179 runs

 
Burton easily won this potentially relegation battle and moved away a little from the danger zone as they pouched 20 points – but showed compassion in the heat as they declared after the minimum 35 overs and then bowled out Ollie Davies’  Pill Parks battlers in 23 overs.
 
Toby Hayman and Joseph Kiff got the visitors off to a good start in an opening stand of 136 and they had support from Jonathan Venables and Luke Hayman before a halt was called early.
 
Toby Asson then stroked an immaculate half century for Llangwm, assisted by skipper Ollie Davies,  but Morgan Scale led the Buton bowling and Llangwm are still seeking a win  after 12 defeats on the bounce.

Hook  261 for 8 (20) beat  Cresselly 2nds 48 all out (6) by  213 runs

 
Hook gained the biggest win of the day as they batted with typical vigour after losing both openers before they had reached double figures, building a challenging tally and then shooting out Cresselly’s youthful second team for only a minimum score!
 
Bothers Aled and Owen Phelps led the Hook recover as Lewis Miller also looked and Jacob Lay top scored as he stroked eight fours and four sixes in his classy knock – with 33 from ‘Mr Extras’ helping to boost the already huge score.
 
Brennan Marton grabbed a five-wicket haul for Hook after tea and Lewis Miller and Jack Phillips shared the other Cressely wickets as youngsters Iori Thomas and Milo Jones tried hard to stave off inevitable defeat but Hook remain fourth and stay in the hunt for promotion.

Carew 2nds  144 all out (7) lost to St Ishmaels 208 for 7 (20) by 64 runs

 
St Ishmaels remain in top place and a feature of their victory at Carew Seconds was the fact that opener Phil Llewellyn carried his bat for an unbeaten century, including 14 fours and two sixes to score well over half of his team’s total, with cameos from five other players without anyone reaching 20 as George Waters, Joel Read, Barry Evans and Ethan Hall all maned two wickets apiece for The Rooks reserves.
 
Then Brennan Devonald exerted his usual influence with the ball , ably assisted by Johnathan Pawlett, plus brothers Andrew and Steve Williams, to help Tish to a 20-point haul to keep ahead of the trio in hot pursuit.

Llechryd 164 for 3 (7) lost to Pembroke 268 for 4 (16) by 104 runs

 
Ceri Brace was again the main run-maker for Pembroke in their very big total at Llechryd, who lost only three wickets in their response but finished up still well adrift of victory as the visitors stay third but still very much in the hunt for promotion.
 
Brace fell four runs of a century as he was removed by Ifan Wyn Jones, having stroke 13 boundaries, and as usual there was not out support from skipper Jack Harries, and re-born opener Paul White alongside Billy Woods late flourish.
 
Adam Maehrlin batted really well for Llechryd and also amongst the runs were Jac Davies, Joe Mansfield and Ifan Wyn Jones – but no-one was able stamp their authority on matters as Pembroke bowled good lines and fielded well.

Llanrhian played really well at Glebelands to edge home by two wickets and pouch maximum points which could prove vital if they are to close the gap at the foot of the table.
 
Lewis Boswell again led the Johnston batting with some classy shots and Lee Summons and Leigh Walters provided support on the way to a decent score where Dom Harty clamed five wickets and had help from Llion Williams and Rhodri Owen.
 
Harty also batted well as Jack Jones again topped the batting, with Tom Clarke and Owen helping Llanrhian earn their second victory of the season.

Lamphey  176 for 8 (20) beat Fishguard  175 all out (8) by 2 wickets

 
Lamphey battled their way to a narrow home victory over promotion favourites Fishguard, who are still in with a chance of the section silverware as they now trail leaders Pembroke Dock by  nine points – but still have the buffer of a massive 37 points over their third-placed opponents in this tussle.
 
For Lamphey, who opted to bat first, Rob Mathias scored a half century and found support from David Dredge, Terrance Madridakis, Nick Shelmerdine as Shaun Sinnott and Ashish Jayes led the Fishguard bowling attack but were unable to take the last two Lamphey batters.
 
Scott Delaney showed what a good cricketer he is becoming, alongside being one of the best defenders in local football, with top score of 78 for Fishguard, with dad Nigel and Ashish Jayes taking them to a sizable score and needing two runs to win as David Dredge claimed  four wickets and Hywel Gibbs, surely one of the most loyal players in the county, supported with a brace.
 
Talented teenager Madridakis was trusted with his first bowling of the day for the last over – and justified skipper Dredge’s faith in him by taking the last Fishguard wicket and helping Lamphey to the narrowest on wins!
