Cresselly coast to vital victory
Cresselly 152 for 3 (18) beat Saundersfoot 149 all out (4) by 7 wickets
A swashbuckling 98 not out by Kyle Quartermaine helped Cresselly maintain top spot against third-placed Saundersfoot, who batted first and had the Mansbridge brothers involved as John (52) and Tom (28) were joined by Scott Helmich and ‘Mr Extras’ in a final tally where Charlie Arthur, Simon Cole and Tom Arthur all claimed two wickets from decent bowling spells 150 to win didn’t seem an easy task as Phil Williams and Iwan Izzard made useful contributions but Quartermaine made mincemeat of The Seasiders’ attack as the Mansbridge boys were involved alongside Nick Cope in the wicket-taking stakes – but with 14 fours and three big sixes from Quartermaine it turned out to be almost a stroll in the park for the league leaders.Cresselly Innings:

Carew keep chasing with an important maximum haul of points
Herbrandston 167 all out (5) lost to Carew 168 for 2 (20) by 8 wickets
Carew maintained the pressure on their neighbours as they made the journey to fourth-placed Herbrandston and came away with a comfortable eight-wicket win.Hook batted first and set a useful score thanks to an attacking innings by Jack Nicholas, which took only 32 deliveries and contained 9 boundaries and a six, assisted by brother Harry and Tom Philpott with useful cameos.
Noah davies led The Rooks’ bowling and Shaun Whitfield marked his return to action with good bowling alongside James Hinchliffe.
Ian Sefton showed what an asset he is for Carew with an undefeated knock which included 7 fours and 2 sixes, and after skipper Rhys Davies and Noah Davies helped set the Carew base it was old-timer Brian Hall who helped Sefton past the winning post – and maximum points as their reward, to set up the ‘Match of the Season’ at Cresselly next Saturday!

Hardy hits out as Llangwm struggles continue
Neyland 299 for 7 (20) beat Llangwm 57 all out (4) by 242 runs
Llangwm’s difficult season continued as they made the short journey to Neyland and had to battle for 45 overs in the field as the home side rattled up a huge score and were then shot out to lose by such a huge margin – but were praised by onlookers for never giving up the task.Gregg Miller and Dai Davies featured in an early partnership of 105 which provided just the platform for Ross Hardy to show his ‘attack dog’ qualities at their best with a powerful undefeated century which included 10 boundaries and 5 big sixes – and Llangwm’s cause certainly wasn’t helped by the fact that unfortunately they conceded a massive number of extras.
Even worse was to follow for the Pill Parks’ Gang as Tom Pritchard grabbed an early wicket and then Jack John tore into them with a 6 for 12 spell that saw only Luke Brock (who had also bowled well), James Lewis and Jonthan Clout manage double figures, with the last-named clearly not in running mode as all his runs came from boundaries.
Sam Laugharne chipped in with three wickets and now there are only two more matches for Llangwm to play out – and hopefully battle back in division two next campaign!

Town make up ground against fellow strugglers Whitland
Haverfordwest 76 for 3 (16) beat Whitland 75 all out (2) by 7 wickets
This relegation clash at The Racecourse saw Haverfordwest make up vital ground over fellow-strugglers Whitland in a battle to see who joins Llangwm in making ‘the Dreaded Drop’.The Borderers were asked to bat first and were soon in dept trouble as only Steffan Jones reached double figures as they lurched to 29 for 6 and then 45 for 8 as Jake Merry and Will Phillips tore into them with a shared seven wickets, and with canny spinner Clive Tucker also claiming the prized scalp of Jonthan Thomas.
But then tail-enders Steff Lee and Trystan Rees added a little respectability to their tally before Rhys Sewell and Simon Williams saw them off in less than 25 overs.
Haverfordwest clearly decided attack was the best policy because although Gopal Ramasamy claimed three early wickets The Town had Shan Perreira and Dan Field sharing seven fours and a six as they sped to victory in the 15th over to narrow the gap between the teams to 9 points in favour of the visitors with two matches remaining.

Burton claim easy win at Oatfield Park
Burton 111 for 2 (20) beat Lawrenny 110 all out (3) by 8 wickets
Burton have really battled hard this season and their reward is a deserved sixth place in the table after this convincing win over an out-of-sorts Lawrenny outfit which batted first and could only muster a less than impressive total as only Finley Lewis looked comfortable as he was not out at the end, with extras as the next highest contributor and only Wil Nicholas and Tom Cole managing to get into double figures against the bowling of the ageless Johnny Scale and Gavin Campbell as an ideal pace/spin combination.Toby Hayman, looking back to something like his best form, anchored the innings, and there were 20 extras to boost the total before Joseph Kiff joined Toby Hayman in seeing them to maximum points as only Rob Williams and Jamie Lewis managed a wicket for Lawrenny, who are now in seventh place.

Narberth coast home in top-three clash
Hook 141 all out (6) lost to Narberth 142 for 4 (19) by 6 wickets
After the disappointment of defeat the previous week, Narberth bounced back to win this top-three clash at Hook to leap-frog their opponents and into second place – and with Tish winning there is still a compulsive two weeks left to decide who goes up.Lewis Miller top scored for Hook but no-one else was able to take command as Aled Phelps, Jacob Lay, Callum and George James all got started but then got out against Louis Davies and Ben Hughes, who shared six wickets and found excellent support from Lewis Jones and Matthew Johns, who had two wickets apiece.
Jack Phillips gave Hook hope but Loui Davies showed all his range of strokes to make an unbeaten match-deciding score and had excellent support from the also-unbeaten Lewis Hough and Narberth showed they are still a force in the section as they won with wickets and overs to spare.

Tish struggle but hold on at Treleet to stay top
Pembroke 101 all out (6) lost to St Ishmaels 104 for 7 (19) by 3 wickets
St Ismaels took a giant stride towards the promotion they so clearly want but their top-four match with Pembroke at Treleet was visibly a mixture of good performances and nerves before they edged home with over eight overs to go but with only three wickets in hand.And it could have been worse without a match defining innings from skipper Jonathan Pawlett, who once again led from the front after they had played well to cheaply bowl Pembroke’s powerful batting line-up out, thanks to Tom and Steve Williams, Brennan Devonald and Andrew Pawlett, who only took one wicket but conceded a miserly 5 runs in EIGHT overs!
Paul White, Krunal Patel and Richard Pullman were the pick of the home team’s batsmen and with useful bowling from Sam Davies, Billy Wood and Patel they seemed in with a shout as Tish limped to 57 for 5. But then Jon Pawlett intervened and found support from his cousin Andrew – as they reached their target with a great sigh of relief!

Big win for Johnston as Summons blasts second successive century
Carew 2nds 190 for 9 (7) lost to Johnston 226 for 5 (19) by 36 runs
Johnston’s ace batsman Lee Summons stroked his way to a second successive century at Carew and also grabbed a couple of wickets as The Rooks’ Reserves came within 36 runs of chasing down such a big score.Summons’ boundary-laden 114 followed his ton against Llechryd the previous week and as usual he found support from another in-form batsman in Lewis Boswell, as Joel Reed was the pick of the Carew bowlers.
Then the home team’s response started well via Nick Scourfield and especially Welsh internation Seniors’ player in Simon Wood, with Reed and Haydn Shapcott continuing the effort late on as Keegan Codd, Chris Fitzpatrick and Nick Davies joined Summons in making sure that they had something in hand for The Glebelands’ Gang.

There was a dramatic finish at Llandigige Fawr as the home side removed the last Cresselly wicket with the scores tied, as Paul Lewis’s catch gave them a vital share of the spoils and a chance still of avoiding relegation.Jack Jones was again a very influential Llanrhian player with 75 runs alongside Paul Lewis and Russell Watkins giving support against the bowling of Mike Shaw, Josh and Ryan Williams. Griff Jenkins and Damien Arthur led the Cresselly batting but Jones and Ian Newton battled hard for the homesters until that final ball, when it seemed that all would be lost but then the veteran Mr Lewis stuck out his paw and the 15 points earned now means that Llanrhian are now in with a chance of avoiding relegation, when at one stage it seemed that all was lost for them!

Llechryd play well to beat battling Burton
Llechryd 142 for 3 (20) beat Burton 2nds 141 all out (5) by 7 wickets
Llechryd deservedly stand in fifth place in the section after this relatively comfortable home win over bottom club Burton 2nds, who recruited several old-timers who certainly didn’t let them down.
Burton batted first and the bulk of their runs came from Mathew Davies, David Murphy, Richard Hayman and Dan Ridge as Tomos Lewis Tom Beard and Dad=f Davies shared six wickets for Llechryd.
Dan Griffiths led Burton by example with three wickets for his bowling but Ifan Wyn Jones built an undefeated half century to form the backbone of Llechryd’s response and was supported by Tomos Lewis and Joe Mansfield as they reached their target in the 32nd over!
