Llangwm (68 all out) tied with Pembroke (68 for 3)
Batting first, Llangwm suffered a vital early loss as Lilly Thomas hit a boundary but then was well caught by Summer Russant off Bobbie Neale, Pembroke’s best bowler so far this year, but then Pam Asson showed what a good batter she is with another retirement score in only 11 deliveries, with Zoe Brick also managing double figures.
But Bobby grabbed another wicket as Summer, Martha Wilson and Karen Evans also claimed a wicket apiece so that Llangwm were dismissed with three balls of their eight overs unused.
Then Pembroke got off to a poor start as they slumped to 13 for 3 against Lilly, Natalie White, Zoe and Daisy Brick before Nirvana and Bobbie set about restoring thangs until they were within sight of that elusive win but still needing those 15 runs in the final over – but with Bobbie retiring at a key time.
Nirvana kept scoring at the other end, though and with 19 extras in the bag they needed a boundary from the last ball of the game – and Nirvana did really well to earn a draw with a well-placed three that meant a tie, with both sides perhaps deserving something out of such a hard-fought and intriguing contest!
Llangwm Batting: Pam Asson 25, Zoe Brick 12
Pembroke Bowling: Bobby Neale 2-11, Summer Russant 1-25, Martha Wilson 1-11, Karen Evans 1-22
Pembroke Batting: Bobby Neale 26*, Nirvana Thomas 17, Extras 19
Llangwm Bowling: Lilly Thomas 0-8, Zoe Brick 1-12
Pembroke Dock (62 for 1) lost to Llangwm (63 for 1) by five wickets
It proved to be the case, especially since Llangwm opened with Pam Asson, one of the most prolific batters in the league, and the recently-returned Lilly Thomas, who joined forces after Martha Bhari had again claimed an early wicket with her accurate bowling before Llangwm’s ‘dynamic duo’ joined forces.
Pam ended up with an innings composed of six threes and a six, whilst Lilly started with a six and then also struck six threes so that they strolled home from only five overs.
Pembroke Dock Batting: Katie Griffiths 25*, Martha Bhari 23
Llangwm Bowling: Lilly Thomas 1-9, Daisy Brick 0-14, Jess Ainsworth 0-6, Natalie White 0-12
Llangwm Batting: Pam Asson 24*, Lilly Thomas 26*, Extras 11
Pembroke Dock Bowling: Martha Bhari 1-20 Molly Fitpatrick 0-10
Pembroke Dock (26 all out) lost to Burton (29 for 1) by five wickets
The Dock rely on Katie Griffiths to get them off to a good start but when she gave an early return catch to Rhiannon Morgan is didn’t bode well – and Rhiannon also bowled the other regular run-getter Martha Bhari as well.
Then Becca Barton showed the value of bowling wicket to wicket as she cleaned bowled the other four Dock batters, three of them for ducks to finish with her fantastic figures.
The Dock innings lasted 6.2 overs but then they enjoyed a sudden boost as Martha grabbed a very early wicket but then Steff Campbell and Louise Adams batted sensibly as the extras again began to pile up – with only 3.2 overs needed because of the wides bowled!
Pembroke Dock Batting: Extras 19
Burton Bowling: Becca Barton 4-5, Rhiannon Morgan 2-4, Louise Adams 0-4
Burton Batting: Extras 18,
Pembroke Dock Bowling: Martha Bhari 1-8
Burton (97 for 4) beat Pembroke (75 for 3) by 22 runs
Joining Olivia in taking their side close to three figures were Becca Barton, until she was run out after facing only seven balls, and Louise Adams, there at the end, despite the efforts of Summer and Bobbie with the ball for Pembroke.
Becca then followed up her bowling heroics of Burton’s other match with a wicket in her first over as Pembroke lurched to 11 for 2 before Kim Barnes looked in fine fettle before retiring, having faced only 15 balls, and the dependable Bobbie had given total support to still be there at the end – and with 16 extras the other major contributor, Burton celebrated a second success of the evening in a match that was a credit to ladies cricket, as were the other games throughout the evening!
Burton Batting: Olivia James 41*, Becca Barton 20, Louise Adams 15*
Pembroke Bowling: Summer Russant 2-19, Bobbie Neale 1-27
Pembroke Batting: Kim Barnes 25*, Bobby Neale 23*, Extras 16
Burton Bowling: Becca Barton 1-17, Finola Scale 1-16, Olivia James 0-9 (one maiden)
