Sean will be leading the side in a Harrison Allen final for the eighth time, six of the previous seven where he has raised the trophy aloft. Throw in  9 DR Morris Cup wins in 10 seasons, and he has plenty of recent experience to call upon in this kind of competition. Sean, with his excellent wicket keeping, will be an important player and he is often found to switch the gloves and take the ball when a change of attack is needed. Sean’s leadership will be vital on the day but as county captain for eight years he has a bit of experience there too!.

‘Minty’ is another who has won all there is to win with Neyland, having been an integral part of the side for so many years. A destructive top-order batsman on his day, he has shown in recent times that he is also capable of adapting to the match situation and perhaps getting his eye in before letting loose. Paul is also a more than handy gloveman, a role he willingly takes up when Sean swaps the pads for the ball.

The man-of-the-match in the Harrison Allen finals of 2013 and 2020, Ashley has continued his form this season where he has compiled important runs in league and cup competitions to help see Neyland to vital victories and he’ll be hoping for a similar display this afternoon. A destructive batsman who has the ability to take the game away from the opposition, he has played in six previous finals, with five winners’ medals and plenty of Duggie Morris finals too. Ash is a terrific fielder and is also a very good rugby player who plies his trade with Narberth in the Welsh Championship.

‘Koos’ has shown on plenty of occasions that he can be the one to decide the outcome of a game, with his many years of experience meaning he is more than used to playing in matches where there is something on the line. He has played in seven finals, with six Neyland wins – and he was adjudged man of the match in 2011. A genuine all-rounder, Nick has been unable to feature heavily in the competition thus far due to work commitments, however his return for today’s final is a big boost as he searches for more success throughout the game because he is deceptively quick as a bowler and one of the highest quality batsmen in the county.

Paddy has fond memories of playing in finals at Cresselly because he has won all six he has previously played in. His runs at the top of the order alongside Nick Koomen can be vital in setting up a strong platform for the team to press on, and is one of the best stroke players in the county so he will be missed if his damaged finger keeps him out., He has nerves of steel, as his winning six off the final ball of a DR Morris Cup final is still talked about, while his fielding and underrated bowling make him a vital part of the side. Very modest but one of those annoying sportsman who is good at everything, such as rugby, football and especially golf!

Since joining the club in the 2019 season, Ross has been a valuable asset to the team in all four disciplines (batting, bowling, fielding and providing the cool box for post-match beers). Ross has already played in three winning Bowl finals with Neyland and is likely to play a significant role in this season’s final with his medium fast bowling that is very hard to get away and his stroke play which marks him as one of the biggest hitters in Pembrokeshire Cricket. Started out in Grimsby and is now putting his own coaching there in setting out on a cricketing challenge as the ‘Ross Hardy Cricket Academy’ has already got off to a very promising start!

Having linked up with Neyland for the 2023 season, ‘Dapper’ is appearing in his second final for the club this season after previously playing in TEN Bowl finals with Haverfordwest, winning the man of the match award in 2014.  One of the most experienced players in the county, he played for Wales in all the junior age groups and quickly established himself in the side with his competitive edge and will to win ensuring he fitted in straight away. A sharp ground fielder and someone who will never give his wicket away cheaply, Dai will be hoping to clinch his first Bowl win in a Neyland shirt this afternoon.

Paddy is another hugely experienced member of the side, with plenty of winners’ medals (SIX!) to show for his efforts over the years. An accurate swing bowler, he offers an impressive level of control at the start of the innings, and having recently put his hand up to be a fielding coach for Ross Hardy’s newly-established coaching school, you can get an idea of his willingness to do his bit when he doesn’t have ball in hand. The elder twin brother of the captain and a more than useful batsman – and did a great job last Winter as the Indoor League organiser; a job he retains for this Winter too!

‘Bubbler’ is a hugely popular member of the side, with his personality and positive attitude always helping to keep spirits high amongst his teammates. One of very few players who is able to pull off wearing his cap backwards when batting,  He played in four consecutive Bowl finals, two with this season’s opponents Lawrenny and then a double with Neyland since moving into the town from his previous rural life. Brad’s flamboyant approach is always entertaining to watch because he is a deceptively huge hitter who can send the ball right out of the ground. An added bonus is the fact that he is able to provide good variation to the bowling attack.

A legendary figure of Neyland CC, ‘Windy’ has been there, done that, and has no more t-shirts to collect. Andrew is by some distance the most experienced Neyland player on show this afternoon, with his longevity in Pembrokeshire cricket quite astounding - while maintaining his high standards - something to behold. A former captain who set the tone for the way the club now play to the highest standards on the field, and his relaxed nature provides a level of calm to the team when the pressure is on. In his pomp he was rightly regarded as one of the best three batsmen in the county who regularly topped the county’s batting lists. Then add in his deceptively difficult slow stuff to torment opponents with and it is easy to see why he is one of the most respected Pembrokeshire cricketers over the last 40 years.

Jack has established himself as a regular part of the team since moving down to Pembrokeshire from Swindon in 2020, and has already tasted success in Division One and the Duggie Morris Cup. He offers a point of difference with the ball, with his ability to send it down at a fair lick, seeing him pick up plenty of wickets in the last few years, and he has another chance to show his capabilities on the big occasion this afternoon in his first final, after previously being 12th man on the big day. Is also working at his batting and hit a big six to help win a cup match this season.

Gregg, like his older brother,  is another Mr Neyland, he has been there and done it all. A previous first team Captain and serial trophy winner, Gregg’s experience on final day will be of great value to the younger players, if selected. An excellent fielder (he still maintains he’s the best!), Gregg can be relied upon to make the difficult catches look simple, but also is no slouch with the bat, being able to chip in with valuable runs should the team need them, or put in the keeper’s gloves if the skipper fancies a bowl.

Tom is very much an unsung hero at Neyland with his willingness to play anywhere in the club cause – and in league games this season he has claimed some impressive wicket hauls from his fast-medium pace stuff, as well as being an excellent fielder with a safe pair of hands and will be hoping to get in on the action on final day.
Tom has yet to play in a Harrison-Allen Bowl Final but if selected he will certainly give 100%, as he has done in two in two DR Morris Cup wins and an Alec Colley Cup success.

‘Geez’ is the life and soul of the NCC party, with his enthusiasm and general upbeat personality meaning he plays an important role in keeping morale up when we are in the field. His performances in the last couple of seasons have seen him earn a regular spot in the side, with his willingness to throw himself around the field to go with his exploits at the top of the order standing him in good stead.

Sean Hannon would describe ‘Swansea Jack’ as his right-hand man off the field because Peter does all the important little things like making sure the team sheet is sorted, drinks are available at the intervals, raffle tickets are sold, to name a few. He also doubles up as first-aider; adept at dealing with dislocated fingers or pulled muscles and is ready to deal with press queries before, during or after he game. One of sports’ genuine characters and will be seen being busy on the day.
