The ‘Skipper’ has guided Lawrenny back to another Harrison Allen final in his first season at the helm despite having his leg pulled about his experience and underrated knowledge of the game! Already regarded as a Lawrenny ‘legend’ by his team mates and he could have a huge impact on where the trophy ends up with the ball in hand because he has taken lots of wickets this season 5 for 13 against Saundersfoot and 3 for 36 against Narberth. Missed the last final because of a freak injury in the pre-match warm-up so will be doubly eager to do well in this one!

Harry is a very talented all-rounder whose runs from his berth as opener are vital because he can score them quickly – and he also takes his share of wickets as a bonus. This season has seen solid knocks of 91not out & 73 (versus Neyland), and 54 not out (Burton), to name but a few – and good wicket hauls against Herbie (4 for 24) and Llangwm (3 for 30 that mark him as a key player who is vital to his team. ‘H’ can be relied upon to give 100% and his tactical nous will also be of help as he plays with a maturity beyond his age!

Kyle is another key figure in the Lawrenny battle plan because he is one of the most destructive batsmen in the county and if he fires on all cylinders then Lawrenny will be in with a chance as proved with innings of 76 and 39 not out in the last two rounds. Throw in 77 and 118 v Herbie, plus 52 against Tish, He is also strong in the field, sets an unbelievable high standard and is a big player for big occasions. One of the natural jokers in the team and has most of his team mates in stitches throughout the day.

Came out of the blue from Australia and after the club’s traditionally warm welcome he settled into Lawrenny changing room in no time and is a big hit with the lads. His batting technique is exciting to watch and so are the runs he regularly gathers, like his 71 against Carew and 47 not out against Saundersfoot – and he sets an example to the youngsters because he never fails in the field. Like all Aussies he enjoys a bit of sledging and is not afraid to express his opinion – and his natural competitive nature ensures he will be keen to bring the trophy back to the village!

Tractor Driver
‘Combine’ is yet again another all-rounder who plays with a maturity beyond his years after going through the Lawrenny junior system and being in the first team from a relatively young age.. Tom can bat anywhere in the order and if he comes off, supporters are in for a real treat because he can hit the ball a long way and loves belting big sixes, as he did with 66 against Tish and a speedy 46 not out against Burton. He is a great fielder, especially under a high ball and very popular with the other players, during and after games!

‘Rhino’ is the character of the team and is arguably the most improved all-rounder in the county with his ability to score runs at a great rate of knots, with sixes galore, but also his ability to take much more than his share of wickets is a big match winner. Hugely popular with everyone at Lawrenny and is now rightly regarded by other clubs as one of the best all-rounders in the county, as the comments from our Bowl Pundits prove. Claimed five-wicket hauls against Llangwm and Herbie, where he also grabbed 6 for 11 at Herbie – and finished the season in style as he scored 50 and took 5 for 20 against Carew!

‘Kidders’ is an attacking left handed batsman and says he is a part time bowler. He enjoyed a hugely successful run as the team’s inspirational captain before stepping down this season, leading by example on the field and setting the tone with his quiet authority and commitment that rightly earned him respect around the county. Joe is the most enthusiastic fielder you will see all day; his never say die attitude being a big part of the way that Lawrenny are known as a team. His team mates say he will always plays with a smile on his face and you will see him diving around the field, especially if the cameras are there!

‘Wispa graduated to the firsts this season and is developing into a good all-round player. He is now the regular wicket-keeper and is working hard to improve his skills close to the wicket. Ever-ready in putting his body on the line to cut out the byes and is developing into an attacking middle-order batsman who when batting can hit the ball just as hard as anyone and can also play the scoop shot! Will is very competitive and encourages his team-mates and will be itching to get his gloves on for the final!!

‘Finners’ is a potentially brilliant all-rounder who is really starting to step up and be more aggressive with his own game and rewarded with his first Harrison Allen final. He is a very good batsman who plays with a maturity beyond his years and has already caught the eye this campaign with a string of fine innings and useful bowling, like the 3 for 28 he picked up against Neyland. Will miss dad Steve being in the final but could use it as the spur to do really well. Already has a string of centuries to his name and is the mischievous one of the team, particularly with his sidekick Wispa!

Estate Groundsman
‘Worm’ is one of the best-known players in the club over the past 30 years; someone everyone in the club looks up to and is the first to lift others’ heads after a bad day in the office. He has represented the county team as a fast bowler who can take wickets in clusters – and his accurate spell in the semi-final of 1-12 (in a power play) shows the old timer still has it and will be determined to win at all costs. He can also score runs quickly when the occasion arises and knows what it is like to win The Bowl - and would love to repeat the experience!

Electronic Engineer
‘Feb’ is a player of some talent because he can bowl, bat, field and keep wicket to a top standard and has that winning mentality. As a result he poses a big threat and has plenty of experience in finals to be able to deliver on the big stage.

Builders Merchants Worker
‘Bucks’ has played all his senior cricket at Lawrenny and in that time became a hugely respected middle-order batsman who had all the strokes – and can go big in terms of fours and sixes if needed. He has also turned his arm over on occasions and is rightly regarded as one of the best fielders in the club. He has already played in Harrison-Allen Bowl Finals and if called upon will be sure to give 100% in the club cause!

Builder
“Clew” is the other remaining old timer, but runs and dives around the field like a nipper. A highly respected all-rounder around the County who keeps a calm head and although he misses this final after his serious injury still hopes to cheer Lawrenny on – and the loudest applause of the day will be reserved for this popular player who represents all that is good in Pembrokeshire Cricket!
Young Players Experiencing This Special Day:
Lawrenny have included three very talented teenagers to spend the day experiencing everything, from the club breakfast through the travel, warm-up and being in the changing room. It is a great idea and typical of the ethos that exists at the club.

A right-arm medium-fast bowler like his father Rob and will do well to match his grandfather Chris in the batting stakes for Lawrenny. Noah has already made his first-team debut and is sure to be a fundamental part of the club for years to come.

A very good right-handed batsman and already a useful off-spin bowler, Rhys plays regularly for the seconds and has appeared with the firsts – and another typically promising prospect at the club who is being nurtured for a long time as a top all-rounder at the club.

Oscar is following his father Steve and big brother Finley in the Lawrenny colours and some pundits say that he could be the best yet! He has represented Wales in his age group this season and is a very good opening bat, with a full array of strokes for one so young – and also bowls well as an added bonus!
