Tom Rowlands stars in Cresselly victory

Pembroke B (92 all out in 9.1 overs) lost to Cresselly (93 for 4 in 9.3 overs)

Tom Rowlands - match-winning performance for CressellyA superb all-round performance by Tom Rowlands helped Cresselly confirm their recent improvement as they beat front runners Pembroke B by two wickets in an exciting opener to Monday evening’s matches, his splendid 3 for 9 bowling haul and top score of 32 not out taking them to success.

Pembroke suffered an early set-back when powerful run-gatherer Billy Wood was run out for only four runs and Will Davies (6) also departed as Archie Hillier-Wood took the catch to give Tom Rowlands his first victim of the evening – before Andrew Price (4) and Will Davidson-Randell (13) were his other victims.

Charlie Perkins chipped in with 14 before being run out after opener Ceri Brace (42) had led the batting before Ollie Rowlands (1 for 26) bowled him as Pembroke reached 91 all out.

Tom Rowlands then opened the Cresselly batting with Stefan Jenkins and they put on 50 before Jenkins departed for 21 (including two fours), run out by some sharp fielding, and Charlie Arthur maintained the momentum with a quick-fire 14 before Billy Wood (1 for 16) pouched a return catch.

Archie Hillier-Wood was run out for 7 and Ollie Rowlands was unable to match dad’s batting as Will Davies stumped him for a duck off Charlie Perkins (1 for 24) – but Tom Arthur (13 not out) joined Rowlands (Snr) in judging the run rate to perfection as the opener stroked two fours and took only 21 deliveries to see his side to a deserved victory.

Herbie stroll home against Neyland C

Rob Kingston - bowled and batted well for HerbrandstonNeyland C (67 for 5 in 10 overs) lost to Herbrandston (68 for 2 in 6.5 overs)

Kieran Arran was again in good form for Neyland alongside Charlie French but they could only muster 67 runs against accurate bowling by Herbrandston, who knocked off the requited runs in only 6.5 of their allotted 10 overs as Harry Nicholas led the way with a solid all-round performance.

Batting first, Neyland lost Archie Watkins (4) and Kieran Arran (23) batted well – with Rob Kingston (an excellent 2 for 8) claiming both wickets as the father and son duo of Dai and Charlie Malloy pouched the catches.

Charlie French also reached 23 before getting run out but Kory Arran (3) and skipper Phil Keen (0) came and went before ‘Mr Reliable’ Rod Murphy ended the innings on 7 not out and Atticus Kingston (1 for 1 for 13) and Charlie Malloy (0 for 12) bowled well for Herbie.

Rob Kingston was unable to maintain his form with the bat, however; as he was caught by Keiran Arran off Watkins, who made it a 2 for 13 spell when he completed a father and son double as he had Atticus Kingston caught for 9.

But Nicholas showed his all-round skills with 26 before he retired and Dai 19 not out) and Charlie (4 not out) saw Herbie home with plenty in hand.

Seniors show style with their batting prowess

Pembrokeshire Seniors (142 for 1) beat Hundleton (103 for 5)

Kevin Bowen -Shone again for the Pembs SeniorsPembrokeshire’s talented senior cricketers showed there is plenty of life in the cricketing twilight as they amassed a huge total against Hundleton, who also deserved every credit for battling to the end and managing a three figure score themselves as some of their elder statesmen also performed well.

Seniors’ openers Kevin Bowen, one of the best indoor exponents in the county, and Andrew Williams got them off to a flier with 26 and 29 respectively and they were followed by Neal Williams (26), Rob Nicholas (24) and David Haynes (25) all not out as only skipper Ian Milsom was dismissed, run out in the last over for a single!

Hundleton’s response suffered a very early downturn as Stef Williams was bowled by Nicholas for a duck before Dave Lockyer (24) and Dylan Davies joined forces, although Lockyer was bowled by Milsom when he reached 24.

Craig Williamson (6) fell to a cracking return catch by the ubiquitous Bowen (1 for 17) but Hundleton’s No 3 Dylan Davies reached 35 before he was run out and it was left to the village side’s two ‘senior cricketers’ of their own to see them to 103 for 5 as Leighton O’Connor (19 not out) and Jonathan ‘Taffy’ Williams (run out 15) ended what had been an entertaining tussle to round off a good evening of indoor cricket with a decent response at 103 for 5.
