Victorious Narberth

Loui leads Narberth to comfortable success

Neyland (72 all out) lost to Narberth (78 for 2)

Umpires: Steve Williams and Simon Richards, supported by Huw Simpkins
Scorers: Llew Jones and Sarah Arran

Man of the Match: Loui Davies
Adjudicator: Walter Dash

Sheer delight for skipper JordanLoui Davies was the undoubted star of Neyland’s comfortable victory over a gritty Neyland side which found his pace too much for them as he grabbed a terrific 6 for 12 haul from his five overs, with five clean bowled and top opposing batsman caught behind by Jordan Davies for just a single – and Loui went on to open the Narberth batting and again showed his class with 37 not out as they costed home in only nine overs.

Davies struck early by having key Neyland batsman Scott John, home on holiday from Dubai, for a single and then showed how much he has developed during his stint in Melbourne, Australia, as only Rod Murphy (two fours in his 14)m and Eli Owen (1 six in his 14 runs) plus 10 from Leo Power and  14 from ‘Mr Extras’ took Neyland to their final tally, with Maddie Potter deserving of a mention for her 6 not out, coming in at No 10.

Neyland veteran spin bowler Gary Lloyd struck back early as he bowled Aaron Keane for a duck and  trapped Jordan Williams (9) in his  four-over spell alongside Leo Power, who bowled well without any luck.

But Loui Davies  showed his batting power as he sped to his 37 not out with four fours and two sixes, one of which ended the game in style as there were also 18 extras in their total.

Richard Morris and Narberth captain Jordan Williams

And finally . . .

The day was again a great success for Narberth, not only because they were deserved winners but for their organisation of the event in this relatively new format, with Richard and Rhian Howells to the fore as usual, supported by his parents John and Heather Howell

The excellent pitch looked a picture after the early-morning work undertaken by Bobby Simons, Matthew and Mike Johns, and the splendid burger bar, manned all afternoon by first teamer Kyle and Rea Quartermaine, plus Rhian Howell gave great service alongside a few beers provided by the Narberth RFC staff and much-needed on such a perfect day for cricket.

The magnificent trophies, especially the man of the match award, which adjudicator Walter Dash had little difficulty in picking the winner because Loui Davies was so good, were provided by the Morris family, with son Richard there all day alongside Chelsea (Gregg’s daughter) and Charlene (Paul’s daughter). The mementoes really are special and would put many mementoes across the sporting scene to shame.
