Division Four (West) A:
Pembroke 17 - Teirw Crymych 24
Venue: Crickmarren, Pembroke
Referee: Chris Oliver
Pembroke had power aplenty up from as Theo Davies joined Dan and Lloyd in an all-Davies front row, with skipper Lloyd making a welcome return from a rib injury, with Lewis Dennison winning good lineout ball in his first full match, with George Jones, Will Edwards and especially Zak Shaw carrying the ball well
The Scarlets had centre Stephen Brown on permit from Narberth and they opened their count after maintaining possession through 15 phases spreading play wide and prop Theo Davies supplied the final pass to send Brown speeding in for an unconverted try.
But The Bulls quickly regrouped as good work up front by Luke Freebury, No 8 Tomos Tagg, hooker Harry Worthing and prop Tomos Davies set the platform for fellow front rower Lloyd Hughes to plough through from close range for No 10 Tomas Davies to add the extra points.
Then quick hands from young scrum half Daf Bryan brought his back division into action and centre Owain Evans sliced through for The Bulls’ second try, again converted by Thomas Davies – but The Scarlets scored a second try, this time converted by Shaw, after Tom Cabot and William Edwards helped put George Jones on a burst and he charged to the posts to cut the Crymych lead to 14-12 at the oranges.
Both teams had half chances in the closing stages but there was no further scoring so Teirw Crymych made the journey home with victory, leaving Pembroke to regret missed chances after doing so well up front – but both teams deserve credit for the entertaining rugby for both sets of hardy spectators on a very cold evening!
