Steven Dockerty strikes the first of nine goals for Johnston who thrashed Saundersfoot Sports
Adverse weather meant that there were only two games played in the Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League First Division.
Goodwick United got their New Year off with a bang as they narrowly defeated league leaders Narberth 2-1 at Phoenix Park. Rhys Dalling scored the opener that was cancelled out by Adi Jones. But late in the tight game Goodwick skipper Wayne O’Sullivan headed in a winner to seal the points.
Goodwick stay third in the table on the same points as second placed Hakin United. The Vikings are in a prime position, as they have two games in hand over the leaders and three in hand over Goodwick.
The only other game that went ahead was Johnston versus Saundersfoot Sports and this clash was switched from the Glebelands Ground to Hillcroft. The Tigers hammered the Sports 9-0 and Nicky Woodrow led the way with four goals alongside a brace apiece for Steven Dockerty and Joe John plus a solitary effort by Steve Mills.
It’s been a bad few weeks for Johnston when it was announced that they have been kicked out of the West Wales Intermediate Cup for playing an ineligible player in the win at St Josephs. The cup holders have been fined £200 by WWFA, and brothers Glenn and Russell Murray can have no involvement with the club for a year, and worse still, the team have been banned from the competition for three years.
