There were no real surprise results in the Senior Cup quarter finals that were all the games were played without the weather interfering.

Cup holders Johnston narrowly won 2-1 at fellow First Division rivals St Clears. Sean Seymour Davies opened the scoring for the Saints, but the Tigers clawed back the deficit to square matters through Adam Hawkins, then co-striker Nicky Woodrow bagged the winner, with a stunning solo effort early in the second half.

In another all first division tie, Monkton Swifts narrowly won 0-1 at Goodwick United. The Swifts’ cup hero was Ban Adams who scored the winner in the first half.

Merlins Bridge comfortably overcame Second Division Clarbeston Road 5-2 on the Racecourse. Finding the back of the net for the Wizards were Stephen McNabney, Nathan Greene, Peter Thomas, Matthew D’Ivry and Jordan Raymond. Jason Griffiths and Richard Bevan scored for the Road, who left to concentre their efforts on trying to gain promotion back to the top flight.

Tenby convincingly defeated Second Division Fishguard Sports 7-1 at the Clicketts. Netting  the goals for the Seasiders were Billy Vaughan (2), Sam Christopher (2), Daryl Mansbridge, Jerome Mansbridge and Jordan Richards. Matthew Morgan scored the Sports’ consolation goal right at the end of the tie.

The draw for the Senior Cup will take place shortly and will involve all First Division teams with excellent cup pedigree taking part in the semi-finals that are likely to take place on the Conygar Bridge Meadow in March. The names of the teams that will be placed in the hat are Merlins Bridge, Monkton Swifts, Johnston and Tenby.

There were also three matches played in the Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League First Division.

Hakin United were held to a 1-1 draw at home against West Dragons. Ashley Bevan scored midway through the first half, but the visitors equalised virtually on full time through Niall Kinsella. The Vikings stay second level on same points as leaders Narberth who have a better goal difference, but they have one game in hand.

Third from bottom Saundersfoot Sports lost 0-2 at home against fellow strugglers Pennar Robins. An own goal and Phil Thompson scored from the penalty spot to seal the visitors’ fourth win of the season.

Bottom of the table Hundleton lost 2-5 at home to Neyland. Paul Hannon (2), Sean Hannon, Henry Durrant and Ashley Hutchings netted for the Nomads, whilst Jason Donahoe and Geraint Lewis scored for the homesters.

St Ishmaels versus Narberth was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
