Vikings are back on track as bad weather fails to stop to flight actionSix out of seven Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League First Division matches were played on Saturday.

Despite heavy rain in the week and high winds, there was still plenty of action in the top flight.

Despite losing 2-3 at home against Herbandston last week, Hakin United got back to winning ways with a 1-4 victory at Angle, and stay five points clear at the top of the table. Top notch striker Nicky Woodrow scored a brace alongside further goals by Adam Davies and Justin ‘Skinny’ Harding; Chris Richards scored a late consolation for Angle.

Merlins Bridge are second in the table, and the Wizards narrowly won 2-1 at home against close neighbours West Dragons. Stephen McNabney and a Luke Hayward penalty earned the Wizards the points; Jordan Thomas bagged the Dragons’ solitary effort.

Third in the table Herbrandston gained an impressive 4-1 victory against Narberth home. Herbrandston’s hero was Jason Clarke who scored a brilliant hat-trick alongside a Scott Reid strike. Ashley Williams scored the visitors’ only goal.

Neyland, in fifth position, thoroughly deserved their 3-0 victory at home against out of sorts Tenby. Leigh Power, Gary Power and Wayne Parry bagged the goals for the Nomads. The visitors cause was not helped as they had striker Sam Christopher sent off for two bookable offences early in the clash.

Pennar Robins, who are fourth in the table, thrashed sorry Saundersfoot Sports 6-1 at Bush Camp, all the goals were scored in the second half with Phil Thompson leading the way with a superb hat-trick alongside goals by Ben Steele, Sam Southcott and Jack Phillips. Richard Cope scored a late consolation goal for bottom of the table Sports, who also had Geoff Marsh sent off as he received two yellow cards.

St Clears narrowly won 3-2 at home against Johnston. Dan Ramsey, Owain Evans and Steve Thomas netted for the Saints, as Jack Mills and Ryan Doyle replied for the luckless Tigers.

Monkton Swifts versus Goodwick United was postponed due to a waterlogged Monkton Lane.
