Only four teams from Pembrokeshire played in the West Wales Intermediate Cup on Saturday, the rest of the cup ties were postponed due to the extremely wet weather, but the two scheduled Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League First Division matches went ahead.
In the cup, Carew lost 0-1 at home against Cwmfelin Press and Fishguard Sports also lost 0-2 at home against Evans & Williams.
There was better joy for Neyland who won 5-1 at home against Penyfan United. Leading the Nomads’ goal rush was Wayne Parry with a brace alongside one each for Justin Harding, Mike Chandler and Nathan Warlow. The visitors’ only goal was an own goal scored by Sean Hannon, who put the ball past his identical brother Patrick, who just happens to be the Nomads’ reliable goalkeeper!
Goodwick United grabbed an emphatic 20-1 victory against Kruf at Phoenix Park. Goodwick’s leading scorer was Rhys Dalling with ten (yes 10! - it’s not a misprint) also Kieran O’Brien (3), Jordan Griffiths (2), Rob Morgans (2), Adam Raymond, Jonny Horgan and Wayne Sullivan all found the back of the net.
Kruf are a charitable team who raise cash for the Kidney Research Unit Fund and although they lost by 19 goals they left Goodwick with £120 raised by the Goodwick United team and supporters!
Hopefully, next Saturday, 14th November the weather will be kinder to all Pembrokeshire teams involved in West Wales Intermediate Cup action.
In the First Division, Pennar Robins got a slender 1-0 win against Herbrandston at Bush Camp; striker Patrick McDonagh scored the only goal of a well-contested game.
At Marble Hall, Milford United won 3-1 against Angle; William Goodall scored a brace alongside a solitary strike by Maculey MacKay for The Robins. Ben Adams scored Angle’s only goal from the penalty spot.
