Liam Cullen scores against Sunderland

Liam Cullen is currently showing all the right signs of finally breaking into Russell Martin’s Swansea City’s first team.

The 23-year-old is on a high as he has made a big impact lately playing for up top for the Swans, the rising Pembrokeshire star has played at every age grade for Wales, but he’d readily admit that breaking into the first team set-up has not been an easy one for the former Tenby Greenhill pupil.

After he made his debut for the Swans back in 2018 in a narrow 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace, he has found regular first team football hard to come by.

Last season the Swansea City academy product was loaned out to League One outfit Lincoln City for six months, the striker returned in the summer in determined mood to try and cement a first team place.

Last Saturday, Cullen started and repaid manager Russell Martin’s faith as he found the back of the net to help the Swans secure a thoroughly deserved 3-1 win against ten-man Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

In form Cullen has scored three goals and two assists from his last five games, however his highlight was scoring his first goal in front of the Jack Army in the impressive 4-0 win against Watford at the Swansea.com Stadium in December.

“Swansea City has been part of my life since I was a kid. After I signed for the club aged eight, all I have ever wanted to do is play for this club,” said the Kilgetty man.
