Haverfordwest County 1 – Penybont 4

Haverfordwest County were well beaten against Penybont on the Conygar Bridge Meadow.
This is one of the biggest defeats the Bluebirds have suffered on their own patch for quite a few seasons.

It started brightly as they took the lead in the ninth minute, striker Steffan Davies set-up Rhydian Davies who slotted home from eight yards.

But just a couple of minutes later Steffan Davies left the pitch with a troublesome hamstring injury and was replaced by Lee Hudgell.

Rhydian Davies scored the first goalThe visitors equalised in the 18th minute when Cullen Kinsella scored with a close range header.
The Bluebirds then conceded two goals in the space of couple of minutes to trail 3-1 at half time; both goals were scored by striker Marcus Griffiths.

Mad couple of minutes

Bluebirds skipper Pemberton let in Griffiths following a poor back pass that the striker read and buried past the stranded Gwilt, and then Pemberton brought down Griffiths inside the box for a definite penalty that he duly converted.

In the second half it was always going to be a tall order to get anything from this clash, and in the 76th minute the visitors wrapped up the game by adding a fourth goal that Tom Atyeo scored with a powerful strike from distance.

Next Saturday, Haverfordwest County will face a stiff test at Monmouth Town.
