Greg Walters scored on a disappointing night for Haverfordwest County
Haverfordwest County 2 – Goytre United 3
David Brown scored a terrific brace to secure Goytre United a surprise victory against stunned Haverfordwest County at a rain swept Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium on Tuesday night.
Haverfordwest County now need four points from their last two away games to secure the runners-up spot behind champions Llanelli Town.
Two goals down
The Bluebirds found themselves two goals adrift in 33 minutes, Brown opened the scoring in the 18th minute and doubled it when the same player capitalised on an error in the Bluebirds defence for the second.
However, Sean Cresser’s Bluebirds got back in the game when Greg Walters pulled a goal back, the striker getting on the end of a Danny Williams cross from the left to score with a simple tap-in.
The Bluebirds trailed 1-2 at half time and were looking to make a big impact in the second half on a wet slippery Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium surface.
But despite having more possession and territory it was the visitors who added a third goal when Sam Johnson scored with a towering header.
Missed penalty
Steff Williams missed a penalty before the Bluebirds pulled a late goal back through substitute Fraser Findlay, his first for the club at senior level, but could not find an equaliser, so it was Goytre United who left the Bridge Meadow delighted with three points secured in the bag.
