Haverfordwest County have announced they have released six players from the squad, writes Gordon Thomas
Wayne Jones’ team finished third in the Conference Play Offs – the gaffer will be busy in the summer recruiting players for next season’s campaign in the Cymru Premier.
The Bluebirds finished seventh before the split, it is fair to say due to fatigue and suspensions the team’s form dropped off in games in the latter part of the season.
Striker Danny Williams (Cardiff City) plus goalkeeper Matthew Turner (Leeds United) loan deals have come to an end.
Defender Trystan Jones, striker Marcus Griffiths and veteran midfielder Nicky Palmer have all been released plus club skipper Sean Pemberton announced his retirement on the final day of the season.
However, the club also announced that goalkeeper Wojciech Gajda has signed a contract extension with the Bluebirds until the end of the 2021-22 season.
Former Wales international Jazz Richards has also extended his contract until the end of the 2021-22 season.
Club statement:
“The Bluebirds would like to put on record its thanks to all players that will be leaving the club.
“Trystan Jones made 17 appearances in the Haverfordwest County defence this season after joining earlier in the season. Marcus Griffiths featured in 28 matches this season, contributing 2 goals, including the last in a thumping 3-0 win over Newtown. Nicky Palmer has been at Haverfordwest County for a number of seasons and will be missed after making 4 appearances for the Bluebirds this season.
“We would like to wish all players the very best in the future.
“Once a Bluebird, always a Bluebird.”
