Led by Eddie Bunston, they organised for him to join his family, including his father Max, and friends of his choice in the Des Shanklin Suite, where refreshments were provided, and then they saw The Bluebirds battle out a goalless draw.
There was also a special moment when Joel received a Haverfordwest County first team shirt, signed by all the players and management staff, which was presented by Barry Vaughan, the club’s former secretary and current chairman of the Bluebirds’ Supporters’ Club, who spoke movingly about Joel’s courage in a terrible situation.
Joel, who hails from Johnston, told PembrokeshireSport.co.uk he was delighted by his surprise gift and had thoroughly enjoyed his evening with Haverfordwest County – and Eddie Bunston and the rest of the Haverfordwest County Supporters’ Association deserved every credit for recognising Joel’s special effort – and funding it in the process!
