Haverfordwest County 3 – Airbus UK Broughton 0

Jordan Davies scored twice in second halfJordan Davies came off the bench to score twice for Haverfordwest County who comfortably overcame Airbus UK Broughton to go joint top of the table.

Henry Jones opened the scoring on the stroke of half time, late in the second period substitute Jordan Davies slotted home the second and third goals to secure the points for the Bluebirds.

The Wingmakers are still awaiting their first points of the season as they slipped to their third defeat in a row as they are trying to adjust to the highest level after winning the JD Cymru North division last season.

The Bluebirds made three changes to the starting line-up that drew at Bala Town last week, Zac Jones replaced Lewis Brass in goal for his debut, also there was a first start for Jamie Veale.

Airbus were a big physical outfit, any balls in the air were easily dealt with in the opening exchanges. Mamudo Dabo and Joseph Palmer had sights at goal but both spurned their chances.

Jones scores from direct free kick

Midway through the first period Jack Wilson headed into the path of Ben Fawcett, but the striker’s shot is easily dealt with by Lewis Dutton.

In the 36th minute midfielder Ricky Watts left the field with an injury and was replaced by Elliot Scotcher.

The hosts finally broke the deadlock in the first half added time period, Fawcett was bundled over just outside the box on the left side, Jones stepped up and struck a low free-kick underneath the body of keeper Dutton to give his side a narrow 1-0 lead at the interval.

Four minutes after the break saw the unmarked Fawcett header over the crossbar, the striker would have felt he should have done better.

In the 67th minute Pennock’s team carved open a good opportunity as George struck a firm shot but was denied by Dutton, minutes later Fawcett struck a low shot that was well saved at the near post as they kept knocking on the door.

The visitors were put under tremendous pressure and they cracked as Scotcher did brilliantly to win back possession then delivered a slide rule pass into the path of Davies who coolly fired into the far corner.

The Wingmakers nearly pulled one back as keeper Jones reacted brilliantly to deny Cornish’s low drive.
However, in stoppage time Davies grabbed his second of the game to secure an impressive three-goal victory over the bitterly disappointed Wingmakers.
