Tonight’s (21st January 2023) Haverfordwest County v Connah’s Quay Nomads last Phase One fixture has been postponed due to a frozen Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium pitch.

Referee Tom Bevan called it off early this morning, a decision that has given plenty of notice to the travelling team plus supporters, and the match will be rearranged at a future date, possibly a week Tuesday, 31st January..

Off the pitch there has been a bit of activity at the Meadow, since the club have announced that Ryan George and Ivan Watkins have  been released. The club stressed their gratitude to the pair for their contribution and also wished them well for the future.

Manager Tony Pennock has brought in attack-minded left back Oscar Borg, who has come through the ranks at West Ham United; the 25-year old has had spells in Spain, playing in the then-Segunda División B, the third tier of Spanish football for Arenas Club de Getxo. He has since placed in the Icelandic League for teams Stjarnan and Haukar, the latter based in Hafnarfjörður – where the Bluebirds played against in the 2003-04 UEFA Cup.

The club have officially announced earlier this week they have appointed a new Chief Executive Officer.

Georgina Nicholas, who was born and raised in Pembrokeshire, was a former pupil at Pembroke Comprehensive School and hails from a well-known local sporting family, but her working career has mainly been spent in London, where she was a Retail Operations Manager at Arsenal FC, for nearly a decade, and was responsible for the top five performing stores, helping to drive £13m of retail sales with a workforce of more than 300 staff. Nicholas officially starts the new role on March 6th.

Haverfordwest County Chairman Rob Edwards, said: “Georgina was excellent and her corporate mentality and strategic mindset, having worked for some of the biggest brands in a number of industries including such vast experience in football, gives us all great confidence and excitement that she can help drive the club forward. I am very much looking forward to working with her.”
