Haverfordwest County 3 – Flint Town United 1

Haverfordwest County impressively bounced back to winning ways against ten-man Flint Town United at the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium.

The Bluebirds made three changes to the team that lost in Caernarfon Town last week, in came skipper Dylan Rees, Jordan Davies and debutant Oscar Borg.

Goals by Rhys Abbruzzese, Jordan Davies gave the Bluebirds an early 2-0 lead, before Jean-Louis Akpa-Akpro pulled one back, deep in stoppage time Ben Fawcett added the third that ensured Tony Pennock’s men picked up three valuable points, their first in Phase Two.

The hosts opened the scoring in the fifth minute, striker Jack Leahy’s drive from distance was parried by keeper Harry Allen straight in the path of Abbruzzese who made no mistake with the rebound at the near post.

On the 15-minute mark the Bluebirds doubled the lead as Henry Jones’ well flighted free kick from the left was brilliantly headed home from just inside the 18 yard box despite Allen getting a hand on it.

Silkmen strike back

The Silkmen pulled one back in the 41st minute as Akpa Akpro headed home  from inside the Bluebirds’ six-yard box as Pennock’s men held onto a narrow 2-1 lead at half time.

Shortly after the break Jack Wilson replaced the injured Jazz Richards, Abbruzzese struck a powerful volley which struck the post, minutes later Leahy curled his shot over the crossbar from the edge of the box.

Midfielder Jones played in Fawcett, but the latter’s effort sailed over the bar.

In the 62nd minute Pennock made a double substitution as Jamie Veale and Ricky Watts replaced Jack Leahy and Dylan Rees respectively.

Keeper Jack Jones came quickly off his line to deny Zack Clarke, minutes later the Silkmen were reduced to ten-men as Antony Stephens received a straight red card.

Teenager Harri John replaced the industrious Henry Jones in midfield as Pennock made his last change.
