County swimmers are superb at Winter Nationals

Pembrokeshire swimmers recently eclipsed last year's results at the Welsh Winter Nationals in Swansea with a medal total of 31 (13 gold, 9 silver and 9 bronze).

Pembrokeshire County Swimming is supported by the five development clubs of Fishguard Flyers, Haverfordwest Seals, Milford Tigers, Pembroke & District and Tenby Dolphins. All five swimming clubs were represented in and out of the pool.

The total medal haul was four more than the previous year as a total of 22 swimmers reached 70 finals between them, of which no fewer than 11 swimmers won a medal.

Five meet records were smashed by Ffion Davies, Carys Thomas, Kelsey Williams and Jordan Harding on their way to glory, whilst National Qualifying Times were also picked up by Carys Thomas, Kelsey Williams and Jordan Harding

“The team has yet again improved upon the results from previous years. Success at any level should not go unrecognised and there were new swimmers competing for the first time who made valuable team contributions.” said Paul Dowey, Swimming Development Coach for Pembrokeshire County Swimming.
“I would like to applaud all the swimmers but also the parents, coaches and team managers who all contributed substantially to the meet.”

Megan Rogers (3 gold in 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle and 200m butterfly & 3 silver in 100m butterfly, 200m IM – individual medley - and 50m freestyle)
Kelsey Williams (3 gold in 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke & bronze in 200m IM)
Dan Davies (2 gold in 200m back & 200m IM, 2 silver in 100m backstroke and 100m breaststroke & 1 bronze in 200m breaststroke)
Jordan Harding (2 gold in 50m and 200m backstroke & 1 silver in 100m backstroke)
Carys Thomas (Pembroke) (1 gold in 800m freestyle & 2 silver in 200m and 400m IM)
Ffion Davies (1 gold in 200m butterfly & 2 Bronze in 100m butterfly and 200m IM)
Jonathan Orchard (1 gold in 1500m freestyle & 2 bronze in 50m and 200m backstroke)
Rachel Mayled (1 silver in 200m butterfly)
Michael Hire (1 bronze in 200m IM)
