It's a Red Card family affair!
The Red Card doubles and triples for short mat bowlers in Pembrokeshire were recently held at Heatherton and it certainly proved to be a family affair as the father and son duo of Paul and Andrew Hudson won the pairs whilst brothers Andrew and Alan Evans joined forces with Jonathan Gladstone to scoop the triples.
These fine short mat bowlers, along with the second and third-placed competitors, now qualify for the Welsh Finals, to be played at Llandrindod Wells and hopefully from there as qualifiers for the British Finals later in the year.
Continuing the family theme in the doubles, Paul and Andrew Hudson (Hook) comfortably accounted for Andrew and Alan Evans (Tavernspite), with another father/son pairing of Martin and Gareth Davies (Hook) in third place.
It was a similar story in the triples because coming second behind Evans, Evans and Gladstone were Haydn Davies, his daughter Sara and son James, with Ken Auld, Bob Wood and Hazel Wadey third.
The singles and rinks had already been decided before Christmas, with British champion Andrew Evans again triumphant by beating his brother Alan comfortably in the final, with veteran bowler Martin Davies doing well to claim third place.
Davies also showed that there is still life left in the old dog in the rinks as he linked up with the Hudson boys and Chris 'Growler' Holder to take the Pembrokeshire title .
They beat Alan Evans, Robert 'Noddy' Hughes, Jonathan Gladstone and Andrew Evans, who will therefore play in all four competitions for the Welsh Finals in Llandrindod Wells.
