Neyland move a step closer to the title

Venue: The Meads Leisure Centre, Milford Haven
Umpires: Alan Hansen & John Williams
Scorers: Kirsty Hughes (Neyland) and Nicola Murray (Pembroke Dock)

Neyland took another step towards retaining the Pembrokeshire Indoor Cricket crown as they easily accounted for a gritty Pembroke Dock side that had earlier lost in game one to Haverfordwest.

Neyland were without key regulars Andrew Miller, Paul Murray and Patrick hannon but simply drafted in Paul Miller, Patrick Bellerby and Anton John, who all made useful contributions. But skipper Sean Hannon (nine 3s and two 4s in his undefeated 40) and fellow opener Gregg Miller (seven 3s and two 6s in his 34) who gave Neyland a flying start. Nick Koomen as the third regular player, remained not out on 40 (seven 3s, two 6s and a 4) as Neyland sped to 137 for 4 wickets.

Skipper Daley leads by example

Craig Butland was the pick of the Dock Bowlers with 2 for 23 as skipper Nick Daley and his vice-captain Peter Kingdom claimed a wicket apiece, with Kingdom claiming the catch of the day as his one-handed effort removed Paul Miller when the ball seemed destined to go for six!

When the Dock batted, Jake Griffiths was bowled by Anton John from the first delivery and Luke Murray departed soon afterwards to have them in a desperate 6 for 2 wickets before Kingdom (18) and Daley batted well, the latter rapping two 6s and two 4s in his undefeated 32 as his team ended up on 66 for 4.

All the Neyland bowlers had miserly spells, with Bellerby taking1 for 7 in two overs and Paul Miller 2 for 19, and this victory set up an interesting finale next Sunday as they take on a powerful Whitland side in the final game of the programme.

Town take The Dock to task

Haverfordwest finished their season with victory over Pembroke Dock as they reached a reasonable 107 for 1 and limited the Dock to 78 for three wickets.

Ben Field (18) and Richard James (26 retired) gave The Town a good start which was continued by Jonathan Strawbridge and skipper Danny Potter, who both contributed 26 before retiring as Craig Butland was the only wicket-taker for the Dock.

Both Peter Kingdom and Luke Murray batted sensibly for the Dock before they retired respectively on 26 and 27. Jake Griffiths also chipped in with 13 not out but Town keeper Richard James was in fine fettle as he stumped all three of the other Dock batsmen to help his side to victory by 29 runs.
