Hook Youth (96 for 0) beat Haverfordwest Youth (95 all out) by 10 wickets
Hook Youth showed why they are likely favourites to reach the semi-finals of the Ormond Youth Cup this season as they easily beat their counterparts from Haverfordwest, who battled their way to a decent score but found Liam Miller and Rhys Phelps, who both play first-team cricket on a regular basis, too experienced as they knocked off the runs in 11 of their allotted 20 overs.Haverfordwest made a solid start through openers George Twigg and R Lewis as they scored nine runs apiece before falling respectively to Jack Phillips and Rhys Phelps and Finley Atyeo scored runs quickly in the No 3 berth as he struck three fours in his 22 from only 12 deliveries before Phelps claimed his second wicket with the assistance of a Miller catch.
Daf Williams also chipped in with 12 before being bowled for 12 by Harri Evans, who also shifted Freddie Reed (4) and Dylan Lee (2) in his 3 for 11 spell.
From then on the innings was unable to main any impetus although Brandon Dewstowe (9 not out) made a late contribution as Phillips (1 for 13 in four overs),
So Hook started off in pursuit of their challenge and were soon quickly into their stride via Rhys Phelps and Liam Miller, both forceful run-makers with centuries already under their belts – but with Phelps content to play the support role on this occasion as his unbeaten 28 came off 29 deliveries but included two boundaries.It was Miller who went on the offensive at the other end, however, as he struck a six and nine fours so that his 57 not out was completed in only 40 deliveries – and Hook were through against a team from Haverfordwest which never gave up trying but lacked the experience of their opponents!
