Pembrokeshire’s Go Tri series 2015 kicked off recently with a challenging new event in Crymych as participants came from as far afield as Reading for the only full distance Duathlon in Wales.

The race comprised a 10k run, followed by a 40k cycle and a 5k run to finish, with forty-one athletes turning up on the day, and with 35 managing to complete the gruelling event in atrocious conditions.

The overall winner was Gareth Hodgson from Tregaron, with a winning time of 2 hours, 21 minutes and 45 seconds, whilst in second place and the first veteran male home was Gareth Payne from Lampeter.

The open female winner was Emma Palfrey from Blaenffos with a time of 2 hours 49 minutes 9 seconds and the first female veteran was Sian Williams from Haverfordwest.

Gary is delighted

Gary Nicholas, Leisure Services Officer, said: “The event was a great success with all who competed full of praise, although I wouldn’t necessarily say they enjoyed it!

“The volunteers and Crymych Leisure Centre did a fantastic job.”
