Pembrokeshire’s sport development team- Sport Pembrokeshire - has been praised for its work with disabled people and as a result has been awarded a Ribbon Insport Development award.
Run by Disability Sport Wales, the Insport award programme supports local authorities, clubs and sport governing bodies provide sporting opportunities for disabled people.
The four stage programme includes four levels of achievement - Ribbon, Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Jon Morgan, Director of Disability Sport Wales, recently presented the Ribbon Insport award to the Chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council, Councillor Arwyn Williams, and Sport Pembrokeshire Manager, Ben Field, at a special reception at County Hall.
“We are delighted to have been given this accreditation,” said Ben Field. “It confirms our commitment to providing opportunities for all disabled performers. As an Authority we are now working towards a Bronze Accreditation.”
Michelle Daltry, Partnership Manager for Disability Sport Wales congratulated the team on its achievement.
“It is a real testament to the calibre of work they are currently doing, and have committed to do in the future - and will ensure the ongoing development of inclusive planning and provision of opportunity to disabled communities in the Pembrokeshire area,” she said.
