Pembrokeshire Puffins Swimming Club has become the first in the county to be awarded the ‘insport’ Bronze Club award in recognition of the work the club does with disabled youngsters.
Disability Sport Wales officer Angela Miles of Sport Pembrokeshire - Pembrokeshire County Council’s sports development service - said she was delighted at the Puffins’ achievement.
“The club only received its Ribbon award two months beforehand so they are certainly doing something right!” she said.
“This justifies all the hard work and effort the club is doing.”
‘insport’ provides great support
Designed by Disability Sport Wales (DSW) the ‘insport’ programme supports clubs to provide supporting opportunities for disabled people.
The four-stage programme includes four levels of achievement- Ribbon, Bronze, Silver and Gold.
At present five Pembrokeshire clubs have gained the ‘insport’ Ribbon award with a further five working towards the accreditation.
Pembrokeshire Puffins meets every Sunday afternoon at Pembroke Leisure Centre and new members are always welcome.
