Division Three (West):
Lloyd leads Seasiders
to another success
Tenby United 29 - Gorseinon 20
A good performance by outside half Lloyd Thomas helped Tenby United secure victory over a gritty Gorseinon outfit which was looking to improve on its fifth place in the table at the expense of the third-placed Seasiders.
There were very good performances by Pat Roberts, Jason Ronowitz and Richard Rossiter, playing his last first-team match for the Seasiders in the Tenby back row, and they made a bright start as Thomas grabbed an early try which he also converted before winger Aled Bowen made a welcome return to action with a try, also converted by Thomas.
Damian Rowe scored an unconverted try for Gorseinon near half time, and the visitors punished a poor period for Tenby in the second half by adding tries by Ben Cross and Rowe again, one converted by Tim O’Kelly, to claim a 17-14 lead
Lloyd Thomas’s second try nudged Tenby back in front but an O’Kelly penalty put Gorseinon
in the lead – only for the Seasiders to have the final word as Will Crockford
earned them a penalty try which Thomas converted before rounding off the scoring with a penalty which gave him a personal haul of 19 points.

Borderers battered by Beddau
Beddau 57 - Whitland 17
Whitland found it hard going at Beddau as they already trailed by 31-10 at half time and eventually conceded ten tries to the Mid Glamorgan side.
Lee Glanville scored the Borderers’ first-half try when he latched on to a sliced clearance and it was converted by Scott Newton to go with a well-struck penalty.
Hooker Marc Jones, flanker Zac France-Miller and scrum half Dafydd Evans all battled hard but the only other Whitland score came from winger Will Davies, again converted by Newton.
The Beddau try-scorers were flanker Eric Sheppard, centre Adam Rowlands (2), flanker Ben Johnson (3), No 8 Tom Coombs (2) and second row Josh Carrington, with Benjamin also adding a penalty and two conversions.
Otters pipped by ‘Pooler’
Pontypool 23 - Narberth 22
Pontypool continued to move out of the relegation zone as they pipped Narberth by a single point in an entertaining clash at Pontypool Park.
‘Pooler’ led 15-7 at half time thanks to tries by outside half Sam Mills and flanker Jordan Williams alongside a conversion and penalty by Leighton Cunniffe, with flanker Timoci Kaumaitotoya scoring the Narberth try, which was converted by winger James Russell.
Cunniffe also added a second-half penalty for Pontypool as shipper Luke Dychoff scored a try from his No 8 berth as the Otters fought back with a try by flanker Lawrence Reynolds and a penalty try, both converted by No 10 James Stephenson to go with a penalty.
But the Otters were still that vital point behind at the final whistle and the Pontypool fans were clearly delighted to see their side defeat the Otters.
Division Two (West):
Preseli Men still in fine fettle
Maesteg Quins 17 - Crymych 27
Crymych’s excellent season was maintained as they journeyed to Maesteg Quins and recovered from a 12-7 deficit at the half way stage to record an excellent 11th win from 16 league matches.
Crymych right winger Gavin Thomas scored the Preseli men’s first-half try, converted by Rhys Davies, who continued his great form with the boot as also added two penalties and the conversions of other tries after the oranges by Andrew Phillips and Gavin Thomas again.
Scrum half Ian Ronan and second row Dafydd Hughes replied for the Quins, with fly half Gareth Lewis converting both and notching a penalty.
Victory gave Crymych a chance of achieving the runners-up spot if they can maintain this form, whilst Maesteg Quins remain firmly rooted in mid table.
Division Three (West):
Mariners sunk without trace
Amman United 115 - Milford Haven 5
“A day to forget” was the opinion of one Milford Haven supporter as The Mariners conceded a massive 115 points against top of the table Amman United, responding with a solitary try from Dewi Williams in the second half.
Milford travelled with a makeshift side against a team already crowned champions and the writing was very much on the wall for them as they trailed 60-0 at half time, despite the yeoman efforts of those who did play.
The onslaught continued in the second half as Amman United ran in tries from Dean Williams (2), Stuart Herbert (4), Johnny Bevan (2), Rhydian Margan, Christian Monk (2), Gregg Jenkins (2), Robert Jones, Gavin Lewis, Rhys Thomas, Tom Davies and Adrian Thomas (2)
Ten conversions shared by Lewis, Rhys and Adrian Thomas completed the rout for Amman United as pundits scratched their heads to consider whether this was the heaviest defeat in Milford Haven’s history.
Cardigan suffer in later stages
Pontyberem 18 - Cardigan 10
Cardigan were still very much in with a chance of victory against Pontyberem as the teams shared 20 points with seven minutes left to play – but then the Teifisiders conceded vital late points which allowed the home side to leap-frog over them and into ninth place in the table.
Pontyberem made a bright start and were soon 10 points in front thanks to a try by centre Iwan Harries which was converted by Dan Griffiths, who also contributed a penalty.
Cardigan fought back with a try from Rob Connolly, converted by Iestyn Crompton, who hauled the Teifisiders level after the interval with a penalty.
And that is the way the scoreline stayed until late on, when Griffiths kicked a penalty, and as Cardigan tried to play ‘catch-up’ rugby a stray pass allowed Emyr Walters to grab Pontyberem’s second try and set the seal on a hard-fought win.
Division Four (West):
Blacks bag brilliant away win
Aberaeron 20 - Neyland 22
A late try by replacement winger Mark Wilson helped Neyland claim their third win of the season as they edged out Aberaeron in a tense finale where they also picked up a deserved bonus point for scoring four tries.
Fortunes ebbed and flowed throughout and the scores were level at 5-all when half time came, with Alex Stanton scoring an unconverted try for Aberaeron and outside half Jonathan Lloyd doing likewise for the All Blacks.
Neyland might have had more scores but just missed out, as Dean Matthews did from a lovely break where he failed to spot the support inside at a key moment.
Aled Sweeny slotted a penalty for Aberaeron but Patrick Bellerby sliced through from his own half for a brilliant solo try before Matthews powered over for a try converted by Bellerby to put the All Blacks on top.
Home prop Owen Wozencroft and flanker Rhydian Harries replied for the homesters, one converted by Sweeney, before Delme Bateman set up that late try for Mark Wilson, who clearly enjoyed being the super-sub hero for Neyland.
Seagulls suffer cup backlash
Llanybydder 20 - Fishguard and Goodwick 0
Llanybydder remain second after a deserved victory over Fishguard and Goodwick, who rested a few players after their epic cup victory and were surprised that there were uncontested scrums against a team second in the table.
Owain Morgans, Mark George and Rhys Morgan were a trio who caught the eye in terms of work-rate for the Seagulls but they were unable to score a single point against a resolute Llanybydder defence.
Gary Evans, Dionne Thomas, Rhydian Davies and Dyfrig Davies score Llanybydder’s points and now the Seagulls must catch up on their fixture back-log before their much-anticipated visit to the Millennium Stadium!
Division Five (West):
Scarlets lose as champions Gowerton celebrate
Pembroke 24 - Gowerton 45
Gowerton claimed their 19th win from as many starts in Division Five (West) and celebrated being section champions with a convincing win against a Pembroke side which at least had the consolation of a bonus point for scoring four good tries.
The Scarlets were 17-5 adrift at the break but although conceding tries at regular intervals they had tries of their own from scrum half Andrew Davies, flanker Steve Dyde, second row Will Edwards and centre/turned No 8 Dom Colman, two of them converted by Simon Hooper.
But Gowerton kept their proud 100% record with tries from scrum half Charlie Jones (2), prop Craig Thomas, second row Mark Dennis (2), hooker Johnny Rees and full back Lewis Wilkins, with conversions by Callum McKenzie (2) and Josh Hamer (3).
Wasps lose but stay up
Llangwm 12 - St Clears 16
Llangwm lost their relegation zone clash against St Clears but picked up the vital bonus point which ensures their position in Division Five (West) for next season after looking down and out midway through this one.
The Wasps had the only try of a tense first half but still trailed by 6-5 as James Davies notched two penalties for the Saints. Davies added a third penalty in the second period and added the extra points to a try claimed by Gareth Page as the Wasps grabbed tries by pact recruit Matthew Davies and through outstanding full back JoJo Francis, who also slotted a conversion as St Clears celebrated victory but Llangwm were equally delighted by safety from dropping down a division!
Quins go down at Penygroes
Penygroes 21 - Pembroke Dock Harlequins 7
Pembroke Dock Harlequins’ recent run of disappointing results continued at Penygroes as victory for the home side allowed them to leap-frog the Quins and into sixth place in the table.
The home side lead 7-0 at the break thanks to a try by No 8 Gareth Davies which was converted by Chris Powell, who also missed with two penalty chances.
Then Carwyn Davies added a second try soon after the resumption and the home scrum half scored his second midway through the period, both converted by Powell.
The Quins had their chances and finally managed a try from second row Mark Van Rhyn as reward for an excellent performance, with Lewis Davies successfully drop-kicking the conversion attempt. But it was too late for the Quins to make a comeback and they endured their 11th defeat from 19 outings as a result.
Relegation for sad Saints
Bynea 33 St - Davids 13
St Davids’ hopes of avoiding the ‘dreaded drop’ into Division Six (West) were finally ended by defeat at Bynea, causing the Saints to be the first Pembrokeshire side, barring any teams dropping out of the league set-up, to play in that relatively new section.
There was an air of farce about the occasion as both teams were ready to play at 2.30 but there was no referee in attendance until one was finally found to start the match at 4pm – and where the Saints managed a first-half try by flanker Jack Jones but found themselves 14-5 adrift.
Scott James added a second score for St Davids in the second period, converted by Craig Challonder, but Bynea had tries by flanker Gareth Griffiths, No 8 Jason Butchers, scrum half Simon James (2) and right winger Jonathan Cronin, who converted four of them.
The teams played 30 minutes each way since the Saints had booked tickets for the Scarlets’ match and at least Jack Dudley’s boys were able to enjoy that after the real disappointment of relegation.
