Narberth 5 - Swansea 7

Narberth entertained Premiership side Swansea at the Lewis Lloyd Ground and although the heavy rain which fell throughout the match hampered both team’s chances their coaches said afterwards that the game had provided them with valuable insights into their playing staff.
Otters lose to All Whites in awful conditions
Much of the play was inevitably centred on the forward exchanges in such conditions and it was the All Whites who used their greater power to score the only points of the first half when outside half Justin Lewis cut through to score a try which he also converted.

Tomi touches down for Otters

But the Otters refused to submit and they scored an excellent try after the interval when full back Nick Gale, the son of coach Sean Gale, made a telling break and put strong-running winger Tomi Jones, signed from Whitland, over for an unconverted try.

Both sides had other periods of pressure but there was no further scoring as conditions worsened.

Sean Gale said that he was pleased with the performances of his players from last year and was delighted to have Jones, Dylan Richards and Stuart Worrell as new recruits. He felt that flanker Worrell was man of the match and also singled out half backs Rhys Lane and former UWIC No 10 Ianto Griffiths for their performances.

Swansea team manager Ian Hopkins was pleased with some of the young players on view, especially second rows Alun Evans and Ben Fox, who captained the team, plus new No 8 Tudor Hughes, from Mumbles, and Tom Sloan.
