Cardigan Seconds recognised by Pembrokeshire Referees’ Society

The Reg Jones Memorial Shield has been awarded to Cardigan Seconds in recognition of their sporting play during the previous season of junior union rugby.

The trophy was set up by Reg’s family in memory of the well-known rugby referee from St Davids, whose name was synonymous with good sportsmanship and enjoyment of being part of the game.

All the referees in the Pembrokeshire Society vote on which club they have enjoyed officiating most at during the campaign – and it was Cardigan Seconds who came out on top.

Our picture, taken by Keith Bryant, shows referees Tony Pratt and Eirian Edwards presenting the trophy to Steve Williams, who hooks for Cardigan first XV but is also the official skipper of the second team.
