Llangwm 36 - Newport (Pembs) 3

With league matches adjourned for the Autumn Internationals season, Llangwm took the chance of an early start for a friendly against Newport (Pembs) RFC and after an entertaining tussle both teams retired to The Wasps’ clubhouse to watch Wales lose to Australia.

The action at Pill Parks was entertaining as the visitors, bolstered by some players loaned from St Davids, joined Llangwm in producing running rugby and although they only eventually mustered a penalty from Mike Griffiths they could well have had some tries, apart from some over-eagerness and good Wasps’ defence in which new recruit Gareth Lawlor caught the eye.

Six tries for free-running Wasps

Before Griffiths’ three-pointer Llangwm had taken the early lead with a good team try rounded off by winger Kieran Walkden, which was converted by Steve Picton.

Also on the scoresheet for the home side with tries were powerhouse runner Paul Jonkers (2), Yale Grice and veteran Hamish Nicholls from very close range.
