A new-look St Davids got their season off to a flying start with a big win over Llangwm in the Pembrokeshire Cup.

After withstanding early pressure from the visitors, the Saints ran in seven tries in front of a sizeable crowd, with flanker Llion Williams notching three of them.

There was no sign of a one-sided contest in the early exchanges as home No 10 Aaron Foster and opposite number Luke Dyer were both off target with penalties, before Foster did land a second attempt to make it 3-0.

But then came Llangwm's best spell, with prop Callum Jenkins twice stopped just inches short of the line, whilst The Wasps turned down numerous chances for three points as they pushed for a try. The St Davids defence held out though, and eventually Dyer did take the chance to land a simple penalty to square matters.

George Raymond - played well at centre and No 8Not for long though as Williams pounced on a loose ball 20 metres out and sped to the posts, with Foster adding the extras. And the lead was extended when just moments after coming on as a replacement, Adam Phillips burst through in midfield and finished superbly with Foster again doing the honours.

The pressure continued and before the break Williams got his second, with Foster's conversion making it 24-3 at half time.

That became 31-3 just after the restart when Williams again evaded tackles to find his way to the line, and this time it was Ollie Owen who converted.

Another back row-forward Nathan Foster then got in the act as he powered over, Owen again adding the extras, before George Raymond switched from centre to No 8 and duly powered down the blindside to score.

Winger Rhys Meredith-Barrett then rounded off an overlap to go over in the corner as The Saints cruised into the quarter-final stage for the first time since the 2011/12 campaign.
