Crymych power pays off against The Young Blues
Crymych 57 - Haverfordwest 5
Crymych Youth powered their way to another big win at the expense of a very young Haverfordwest side where only one player is at the maximum age for this competition and was praised by their coach Steve Parry for the way they stuck to their task, despite conceding nine tries.
For the homesters No 8 Iestyn Wood added two tries to a tally which saw six scored in the previous two matches, with other try braces for new recruit Dylan Scott, and powerful forward Ptolemy Alleyne.
They were joined on the try sheet by Deian Davies, Hedd George and Gruff Edwards, who as well as scoring a cracking try also added six conversions and was adjudged their man of the match.
For Haverfordwest, outside centre Iestyn Doble claimed their only try but deserve every credit for their performance against a very strong side.
Otters’ handling a key factor
Narberth 22 - Pembroke 7
The home side scored first with slick handling putting Bradley Cramb over in the corner. Despite the strong wind in their favour Narberth struggled to impose themselves as Pembroke defended aggressively but finally loose ball from a line out saw second row Jayden Scourfield crash over before Shay Norcross converted and it stood 12-0 at half time.
Narberth scored two further tries in a much-improved second half through powerful full back Dan Jones and winger Max Morgan but a last-minute interception try from Pembroke’s George Hopkins, converted by Charlie Shiels, made the final score 22-7. Man of the match for Narberth was tireless prop James Morgan whilst Shields enjoyed the same accolade for the Young Scarlets.
Aber maintain their good start but Wasps push them all the way
Aberystwyth 24 - Llangwm 12
Aberystwyth Youth continued their impressive start to the season with victory over their counterparts from Llangwm, who deserved every credit for battling back from a 19-point interval deficit after making the very long journey to Mid Wales.
Aber played their typical game of open rugby to establish that lead, and adding one more after the interval, with Dyfed Llyr outstanding at flanker and picking up a hat-trick of tries alongside one from Owen Jones alongside two conversions by Euros Lloyd.
Llangwm can take credit for outscoring Aber in the second half by two tries to one, both scored by talented centre Fletcher Picton, one converted by full back Iwan Davies, as they more than held their own in some passages of play.
Other Llangwm players who caught the eye were the back row of Joe Phillips, Seth Willington and Sam Rickwood for their defensive work alongside the outstanding Aaron John, whilst Ioan Hawkridge-Jones and Harry Makepeace played well at the back, the latter also making two good breaks in the second half, and Alfie Elrick coming on for his youth team debut.
Llangwm: Iwan Davies: Harry Makepeace; Ieuan Grey; Fletcher Picton; Aaron John: Owen Phelps; Ioan Hawkridge-Jones; Matthew Cole; Aled Rogers; Charlie Wilson: Arwyn O'Loughlin; Flynn Tjoonk; Sam Rickwood; Seth Willington; Joe Phillips. Replacements: Lloyd Stephens; Jake Thomas; Alfie Elrick.
