Young Wasps win an exciting encounter against Whitland Youth
Whitland Youth 17 - Llangwm Youth 18
There were great celebrations amongst players, coaches and supporters of Llangwm Youth as they edged out their counterparts from Whitland to record their first victory at Parc Llwyn Ty Gwyn for as long as those in attendance could remember.
A large and appreciative crowd turned out to support two teams whose coaches espouse running rugby and fortunes certainly ebbed and flowed as both sides enjoyed periods of pressure.
For Whitland, talented twins Lennon and Tyler Reynolds got their names on their try sheet alongside Jake Williams, with one conversion from Tyler Reynolds.
Llangwm had good performances by flanker Sam Rickwood, who tackled hard all afternoon, and No 8 Joe Phillips, who made good ground whenever he had the ball in hand, whilst scrum half Ioan Hawkridge also caught the eye with his work rate.
The Young Wasps claimed tries from Iestyn Arnold and Arwyn O’Loughlin, one converted by Fletcher Picton alongside two well-struck penalties to give The Yung Wasps the edge – although there was still some tense moments before the final Whitland conversion attempt was slightly off-target to send Llangwm home with a memorable victory!
Aber Youth edge home against the Young Seasiders
Tenby United Youth 22 - Aberystwyth Youth 27
There was plenty of running rugby at Heywood Lane before visitors Aberystwyth Youth made the long journey home with victory despite the yeoman efforts of a less experienced Tenby United Youth who were in contention throughout.
Both teams grabbed four tries with the home scores coming from prop Will Price, scrum half Jake Henson, , winger Oscar Miles and hooker Kyle Rossiter, who was voted their man of the match, with full back Will Allen landing a conversion.
Aber Youth answered the challenge with tries by Ellis Nicholas, Ben Breeze and Dafydd Hywel (2) but had more kicks on target via Euros Lloyd, with two conversions and a penalty.
Home prop Dewi Jackson also played his part in Tenby’s scrummaging power but it was Aber who eventually claimed the victory in a match that was again a credit to both clubs.
