Youth Rugby Round-Up:
Youth League:
Crymych win vital double header
Crymych Youth 24 - Whitland Youth 15
And the determination to come out on top was evident in the commitment shown and great pace in which the game took place but in the final analysis Crymych won on the back of their first-half performance as they led 24-8 before Whitland had slightly the better of the second period and scored the only try of the session whilst keeping a clean sheet themselves.
Crymych used their pack power to score two tries by hooker Dan Page after good work by skipper Iestyn Wood and the likes of Kian Morris, Huw Reed, Steff Morris, Bryn Thomas and Jac Delaney, both converted by Owain Davies.
At the other end Lennon Reynolds landed a penalty for Whitland and No 8 Lewis Jones’ ball-carrying was rewarded as he ploughed through for an unconverted try – and earned the Whitland man of the match tag for adding his second, converted by Reynolds as Tom Monk, Harrison Lloyd, Josh Clarke and Tec Thomas were joined by the rest of their pack in raising the tempo.
It left Crymych with their expected win but they knew they had been in a real battle to reach the plate final and now face another huge task on Saturday as they play host to Aberystwyth in an encounter that is likely to decide who will be youth champions for 2022/23.

Youth Cup Semi-Final:
Aber youth’s power pays off
Aberystwyth Youth 34 - Narberth 24
The Young Otters swept into a 14-3 advantage through excellent tries from prop Joel Davies and No 8 Iestyn Comey, who was their man of the match with his ball carrying and involvement in all they did.
At the other end Aber had an early penalty by Euros Lloyd, who then added the extra points to tries by Owen Jones and Mason Lees as the 17-14 score at the interval showed how close the contest was as Jack Perrins converted both tries and notched a penalty..
Narberth never gave up trying and had a third try, scored by scrum half Ollie Hough with Perrins putting over his third two-pointers – but Aber responded with tries by Leo Davies, Owen Pugh and Dafydd Llyr Howell alongside a conversion and penalty from Euros Lloyd to give them the verdict and a coveted place in the final.
Mike Fry Cup Semi-Final:
Blues youngsters too strong for gritty Young Wasps
Haverfordwest Under 17s 50 - Llangwm under 17s 0
Haverfordwest moved into the final of this season’s Mike Fry Cup with a comfortable win over a Llangwm team which was under pressure against a much bigger and more experienced opposition which ran in eight tries and converted five of them to reach the cut-off point under the rules of the game which sensibly call for the game to brought to an early end once a team has reached a half century of points.
After a scoreless 15 minutes at the start of the game where Llangwm defended well the pressure told as tries came at regular intervals as Haverfordwest got the scoreboard ticking over so that game was brought to a conclusion not long after halftime.
The Blues tries came from Isaac Kelso-Jones, Toby Price, Iori Curtis, Kiran Mason, Teifion Owen, Devin Williams, Ashton Doyle and Iestyn Doble.
There were also four conversions from Rio Phillips and one from Ashton O’Riordan made up the final scoreline, which means Haverfordwest Under 17s will now play their counterparts from Pembroke in the final of Mike Fry Under 17 cup Heywood Lane, Tenby on Friday 5th May.
Haverfordwest Team:
Tez Owen, Iori Curtis, Devin Williams, Max Rozblat, Jamie Philips, Ollie Copeland, Logun Young, Jack Hale, Isaac Kelso-Jones, Rio Phillips, Toby Price, Gabriel Thicker, Iestyn Doble, Huw Evans, Kiran Mason, Hamish Furlong, Kai Robinson, Kieran Harries, Ashton Doyle, George Venables, Kieran Lewis, Iestyn Mason.
Both teams had a one minute silence at the start of the game in memory of Gerald Charles from Neyland, an ex-Llangwm coach and a supporter of Haverfordwest Youth whose grandson George Venables plays for The Young Blues. The match was sponsored by James Charles (Gerald's son) and Roy Venables (Gerald’s son-in-law).
The referee's Man of the Match was Iori Curtis and the sponsors’ man of the match was Kieran Harries.
