Goodwick United recently held their annual dinner at the Fishguard Bay Hotel and 100 guests, including players, committee, supporters and invited guests that included former Welsh captain Mark Delaney, who made the journey down from Aston Villa to celebrate his old club’s success.Micky Phillips from the Manderwood Pembrokeshire League, Dave Badger, representing the Pembrokeshire Referees' Society, and Ceri Richards, the assistant secretary of the West Wales Football Association, along with their wives, were also in attendance.
Welcoming them and everyone else was Brian Morris, the chairman of Goodwick United AFC, who outlined the club's record-breaking treble of Pembrokeshire League, Senior Cup and West Wales Intermediate Cup
The evening got off to a bright start as a 'Heads or Tails' fun competition orchestrated by MC Bill Carne earned £100 towards Peter Bowen's wife Julie's 'Walk for Life' in aid of cancer research at Scolton Manor on the Sunday!All of the guests spoke briefly to congratulate Goodwick United with Ceri Richards presenting a winner’s medal to Nigel Delaney alongside a specially embroidered pennant from the West Wales FA to commemorate the club’s success.
Managers present club awards
First team manager Delaney and assistant Chris O’Sullivan then presented the club’s special awards, with goalkeeper James Gwilt receiving the ‘Players’ Player of the Year’ award for his consistent performances all season, whilst Scott Delaney received the ‘Most Improved Player’ for his outstanding displays at centre half. The ‘Managers’ Player of the Year’ award went to the whole first team in recognition of their achievement and one of the loudest cheers of the evening was reserved for Adam Raymond, who received a special award for his commitment.Second team manager Darren John also announced their awards, with Josh Welham scooping the ‘Players’ Player’ and ‘Manager’s Player’ trophies as a talented young player looking to break into the first team, and with ‘Gino Cleal winning the ‘Most Improved Player’ award.

Club captain Wayne O’Sullivan highlighted many of the individual highlights from a long campaign and thanked everyone for their support before presenting a framed set of photographs to both managers on behalf of the players.
The final presentation came when Mark Delaney presented an engraved silver salver to his brother Nigel on behalf of Goodwick United to mark his amazing season as manager.The DJ for a thoroughly enjoyable evening was Radio Cymru presenter Andrew 'Tommo' Thomas.
