James Probert hasn’t started his new boxing season yet but the world top-three ranked teenager from Pembrokeshire has already received an unexpected and thrilling boost recently when he had an invitation to the Ex-Welsh Boxers’ Association annual presentation day, which was their 40th Anniversary and held in Cardiff.
It came as a total shock to James when it was announced that he was to be presented with the ‘Howard Winstone Amateur Boxer of the Year’ award for what he’s accomplished so far in his career
It was a lovely moment which was made even more special by the fact that his parents Nathan, who coaches at Pembroke ABC, and Rachel were there to cheer him on.
They were in on the secret but did well to keep it from him that he had won such a prestigious award, which the former boxers had never given to a junior before.
