Borderettes lose unbeaten tag
Seven Sisters 28 - Whitland 7
Whitland women suffered their first defeat of the season against a much larger Seven Sisters' team at a rainy and windswept Maes Dafydd pitch.
Whitland started the game off well, playing into the wind, and put together some nice phases of play between backs and forwards but a well organised defence kept them out.
But for the rest of the half the Whitland girls were under huge pressure, although they defended well with Elin Hywel, Allana Jones and Lowri Morgan to the fore.
Seven Sisters' pressure pays off
The Borderettes were under pressure and after giving away several penalties close to their line Seven Sisters' centre Helen Davies crashed over near the posts for a try converted by Rachel Rees. From the kick off Whitland were again under pressure but defended well until the last play of the half when Cari Bowen-Davies powered over for a second Seven Sisters' try, again converted by Rees.
More tries conceded
The second half saw Whitland use the wind and they played well, with the front row of Ceris Moyle, Sara Davies and Amy Jones doing well in the scrums Whitland put some pressure on Seven Sisters but some superb defence kept them out. With their first attack of the half Seven Sisters scored a well-worked try with Jami Davies cruising over wide out for Rees to put over a super conversion.
The game was now all but over as a contest and a tiring Whitland defence let Helen Jones cross for her second try, again converted by Rees.
Summons snatches consolation score
The last quarter of the game belonged to Whitland as they refused to give up and after being held up on the line several times, some powerful runs by Sara Davies, and Caryl Lloyd finally created a gap for scrum half Emma Summons to score from close in before the try was converted by Catherine Davies.
The Whitland front row was picked as a unit for the player of the match award.
