Lady Blues make an impressive start

Haverfordwest Ladies 29 Lampeter Ladies 0

Haverfordwest RFC Ladies had their first home match of the new season at the club’s Merlin’s Bridge ground on Sunday and came away with an impressive 29-0 win against their counterparts from Lampeter.

Coach Gareth Charles must have been impressed by the all-round team effort as the forwards secured quality possession for the backs to use, whilst also being prepared to join in handling movements which regularly had the bemused opposition on the back foot.

Cracking start

They had a cracking start as Jess Jones raced over in only the second minute of play for a try which Joanne Price converted.

Former Welsh prop Natalie Bowen put her experience to good use as she joined Jess Jones, Nina Colville and Rhian Perry as key players, scoring the second try before Lucy Peach and Megan Griffiths also got their names on the try sheet.

Bowen’s second try earned her the player of the match tag but this was a team effort from 15 to 1 that nicely sets up a promising season for the Lady Blues!
