Newcastle Emlyn Ladies 5 Llanidloes Ladies 0

Newcastle Emlyn Ladies FC hosted Llanidloes Ladies FC in the Women's Welsh Premier League last Sunday looking for revenge from a 3-2 defeat it last season’s fixture between both teams.

It was the home team, which included six Pembrokeshire players, who quickly dominated possession and were looking full of confidence when a great through ball from Stacey John put Amanda John into the box to coolly slot home the opening goal after 19 minutes.

Emlyn Ladies deliver a 5 star performance

Emlyn continued to dominate the first half and if it wasn't for some spectacular saves from Llanidloes keeper Rebecca Gunson, Emlyn could have been ahead by several more. But on the 40th minute a Marie Tilley corner gave Emlyn their second, Stacey John on the near post, scoring a headed flick to take her tally to eight for the season.

Emlyn strong in second half

The second half began with the same slick play and composed possession that Emlyn displayed in the first half and it wasn't long before Emlyn scored their third with a sweet right footed drive, just outside the opposition’s area from Carrie Slack on 51 minutes.

Emlyn continued to press the away team and the pressure paid off in the 53rd minute when a defensive error let in Stacey John to score her second of the game.

Some intricate play between Stacey John and Amanda John set up Bethan Davies who placed a beautifully curled shot into the bottom right hand corner after 68 minutes.

Emlyn never looked in doubt and their fine form continues on from the previous week’s away win against Aberystwyth.

The ladies next game will be the FAW Cup 1st round away to Camrose on Sunday 20th of October at 2pm.
