Whitland Ladies 63 - Caernarfon Ladies 0
Whitland played really well as a unit to easily account for a Caernarfon contingent who will be disappointed by this lacklustre display and will hope to bounce back in their final cup league encounter against Seven Sisters next Sunday.
Whitland were on fire, being quicker in thought and deed from the outset and the opening salvo saw the Borderettes recycle effectively until they were able to release wing Mari Griffiths, who was able to squeeze in at the corner.
Player of The Match Elin Hywel was held up beyond the whitewash and fullback Cath Davies had timed her passes to perfection before livewire flanker Natalie Walsh forced her way over after good phase play.
Tries galore from quality play
Wales squad player Delyth Davies produced an excellent all-round display from the hooker berth and her side’s third try from a mid-field break that demonstrated how higher honours should soon ensue.
Mari Griffiths outpaced the defence to add another try before centre Jodie Evans also found a gap. The first half try fest was completed by Cath Davies, following her timely entry into the line, whilst three of the tries were successfully converted by Rebecca Norris.
Caernarvon come-back in vain
Caernarvon showed more resolve during the second period with the boot of Malen Williams relieving pressure and providing a platform from which to apply pressure but from the first sustained period of Whitland attacking Elin Hywel supported a blind side break by Emma Summons and squeezed over in the corner.
With Whitland able to call upon the likes of Jenny Collins and Karen Mayze to add extra impetus, and Caernarfon having tackled to a standstill, it was only a matter of time before the home side were able to take advantage and Jodie Evans got her second of the day before Mayze broke clear to score and convert.
Ever-present Angharad Williams added her name to the try scoring list following a pass from Keeley Evans, as did Natalie Walsh for her second from close range before the final points were secured by wing Heather Rees to give the Borderettes a huge win.

Whitland Under18 Girls 27 - Nant Conwy Under18 Girls 12
Whitland under 18 girls’ team enjoyed a deserved home victory as lethargy at the beginning of this encounter cost their counterparts from Nant Conwy dearly before they woke from their slumber in the second half to make an interesting contest of it.
The home side were quicker to react and were constantly on the front foot in the early stages and as a result Megan Davies darted through to open the scoring with the extras being added by Kelsey Haycocks. Minutes later a ball fed quickly to the wing gave Mid-Walian Libby Jones a run in from distance.
A short penalty charge and feed brought a try for Ceilyn Davies, with two others added before the halftime whistle by Marged Williams and Nia Williams to give the Baby Borderettes a 27-0 half team lead.
Nant fight back after the break
It appeared that Nant would have faced an even sterner test of their resolve in the second half but surprisingly they rallied to disrupt their hosts and maintain a foothold in opposition territory as excellent work in the tackle area by Lea Royle, who won numerous turnovers, was the catalyst for their revival. A flowing counter attack saw the ball moved through several pairs of hands before Cerys Davies was able to cross out wide.
With spirits raised, Nant exerted more pressure in midfield and were rewarded further when Sioned Phillips intercepted and sprinted clear to score and add the conversion to secure a final score of 27 points to 12.
Nant will take heart from their revival on what was only their second outing with the performance of Leah Mari, Leah Haf and Lidia Jones proving that there is better to come from this gallant group, whilst Whitland will look to play the whole game in future as they did in the first period here..
