WRU Division One:

Haverfordwest 43 - Barry 0

Haverfordwest Ladies were back in action on Sunday, securing a 43-0 home win over Barry and although the Lady Blues had not played for three weeks they racked up the points despite the fact that the visitors competed well in the scrum and at the breakdown.

Their inactivity showed at times but quality in attack saw tries come from scrum half Helen Finnan (2), full back Clodagh Llewhellin, flanker Awen Prysor and outside half Joanna Price (2), who certainly had her kicking boots on with five conversions and a penalty for a personal haul of 23 points.

Solid performances throughout the team

The home pack had solid performances from Natasha Bowen, Louisa Weinfield, Kate Allen and Angharad Thomas in the set-pieces alongside the redoubtable Natalie Bowen, whilst the back row of Awen Prysor, Lyn Egelstaff and Nina Colville were great ball winners in open play.

There were good carries from Colville and Bowen, plus Rachel Finnan, who also covered well in defence in conjunction with Lisa Neumann, Emily Carrington, Jess Apperley and Clodagh Llewellin, whilst Helen Finnan and Jo Price controlled play throughout the match.

Awen named as man of the match

Both teams competed with a bare 15 players and man of the match was awarded to Cardiff Blues player Awen Prysor, who was outstanding in both attack and defence for Haverfordwest Ladies.

But the score did not reflect the effort of the visitors, who battled until the 80th minute.
