Hero Hannon gives Neyland last-gap win
Neyland (156 for 9) beat Cresselly (95 all out)
Umpires: Trefor Evans and Tony Scourfield
Scorers: Kirsty Hughes and Dave Richards
Patrick Hannon was the toast of his Neyland colleagues as the pace bowler removed Cresselly last man Sam Harts with just four balls left of a tense tussle with Cresselly.
A fine 57 (five fours and a six) from Ashley Sutton helped Neyland to a respectable 156 for 9 as Nick Koomen (21), Paul Murray (16) and Gregg Miller (15) gave support against Sam Harts (1 for 39), Bobby Webb (2 for 44), Ryan Lewis (2 for 36) and Lyn Richards (2 for 27) as the successful Cresselly bowlers.
Only Matthew Morgan (three fours in his 33) ever looked confident amongst the Cresselly bowlers after skipper Phil Williams had been run out for 13, with Andrew Miller leading the attack with 4 for 16 from his wily slow stuff. Gary Lloyd (1 for 14) and Nick Koomen (2 for 26) also helped Neyland’s cause as Patrick Bellerby took two good catches. Then Patrick Hannon clean bowled Harts so that Bobby Webb was not out for Cresselly in a disappointing defeat.

Town take newcomers to task
Llanrhian (75 all out) lost to Haverfordwest (77 for 0)
Umpires: Dave Brandon and Rob Cousins
Scorer: Jayne Cole (Haverfordwest)
Llanrhian discovered the reality of life in Division One as they floundered on the first day against Haverfordwest after scoring only 75 all out and then watching The Town race to victory in only 11 overs.
Promoted at the end of last season, Llanrhian were asked to bat first by new Haverfordwest skipper Danny Potter and were soon deep in trouble against the raw pace of Adam James, who had four
lbws, a caught and bowled and bowled victims in his splendid 6 for 28 haul in nine overs.
Llanrhian opener Gareth Davies tried hard to hold the innings together as he batted throughout for 38 not out (five fours and a six). ‘Mr Extras’ was next highest scorer with 15 and Luke Jones managed double figures as Nigel Morgan’s left armers earned him figures of 3 for 7 alongside Simon Holliday (1 for 17)
The home side’s only hope was an early breakthrough but Town openers Holliday and Jonathan Strawbridge were quickly into their stride as they sped past 50 and were still together when the target was reached, with Holiday having seven fours in his 36 not out and Strawbridge hitting two big sixe
s and five boundaries in his undefeated 39.

Dunfee does the damage for Whitland
St Ishmaels (115 all out) lost to Whitlnd (177 all out)
Umpires: Steve Blowes and Arthur Brady
Scorers: Wendy Bradshaw and Janice Webb
A superb spell of bowling by David Dunfee helped Whitland start the season with a bang as they beat St Ishmaels by 62 runs
Dunfee grabbed 7 for 39, including a hat-trick in his tenth over, as only Andrew Williams ever looked at home of the Tish batsmen.
Put in to bat, Whitland suffered an early loss as Dylan Blain was bowled second ball by Andrew Palmer, with Dai Lee also going early on before Jonathan Thomas batted really well for his 53 (five fours and a six), supported by David Dunfee (29) and Paul Davies (run out for 26). Palmer (1 for 24) was joined by Dean John, playing his first league game for Tish and claiming 3 for 47, Andrew Pawlett (2 for 20), Andrew Williams (2 for 22) and Robbie Thomas (1 for 12) as Whitland were all out with just three balls left of their 45 overs.
But then Dunfee caused mayhem as Mark Lee (2 for 15) kept things tight at the other end alongside Steffan James (1 for 26) and only Peter Bradshaw (11) managed double figures alongside Williams (41) for Tish so that Whitland picked up a 22welcome 30 points to get their season off to a flying start.
*St Ishmaels match ball was sponsored by Graham Parker, with tea provided by Jill Pawlett and Wendy Bradshaw.

Weather intervenes at interesting point
Narberth (210 for 7) v Llangwm (Match abandoned)
Umpires: John Williams and Dai Morris
Scorers: Peter Hughes and Janice Brick
The weather intervened at a very interesting point at Narberth as the home side had amassed an excellent 201 for 7 but Llangwm’s hopes of a run chase were ruined by the rain.
Ritchie Adams started the season in good nick for Narberth as he top scored with 74, stroking 12 fours and a six, which came after he had run two and then the fielder hit the famous tree in the pitch with the
ball to add four runs to the total. Marc Hughes (23), Jordan Howell (27), Mike Scale (21) and Wayne Howells (30) played useful supporting roles as Narberth built a very good total before the promised bad weather arrived
.
*Both teams observed a minute’s silence in memory of the late Brian ‘Jamer’ James, the long-serving former Llangwm and county club stalwart.

Hall’s cracking century in vain
Lawrenny v Carew (202 for 5) – Match abandoned
Umpires: Alan Hansen and John Austin
Scorers: Peter Hughes and Janice Brick
Carew run-maker Brian Hall started the season with a bang as he scored 100 not out (nine fours and a six) against neighbours Lawrenny but after he had guided his side to 202 for 5 the match was brought to an unavoidable halt by the weather.
Hall shared a second wicket stand of 98 with Nick Scourfield (36) and then an unbroken one of 66 with skipper Robbie Hicks (35 not out) against the bowling of James Lewis (3 for 72), Brad McDermott-Jenkins (1-42) and Steve Lewis (1 for 51).
