Div Two - Cricket Reports - 1st June 2013

An excellent all-round performance by Harry Thomas helped Cresselly pick up an away win against their counterparts from Carew as the 16 year old claimed three wickets when Carew mustered 155 for 6 and top scored for Cresselly in their winning response.

Thomas (3 for 36), Matthew Lewis (1 for 32), Tom Arthur (1 for 29) and Sean Jenkins (1 for 3) claimed the wickets as Carew skipper Haydn Shapcott (five fours in his 48), Lewis Hicks (44, including four fours and two sixes) and Dafydd Bevan (25) were the top home batsman.

Scott Arthur (30) and Neale Williams (29) gave Cresselly a solid start to their batting before Thomas scored his classy 65 (eight boundaries) before he was out with just one run needed to win, so that only Damian Hicks (2 for 46) and Joel Read (1 for 22) managed wickets in Carew’s lost cause.

Tucker takes key wickets

Haverfordwest 2nds (91 for 2) beat Stackpole (90 all out)

Umpire: Dai Morris
Scorers: Ros Phillips & Claire Cox
Div Two - Cricket Reports - 1st June 2013
Four wickets from veteran off-spinner Clive Tucker helped Haverfordwest 2nds gain an easy eight-wicket win over Stackpole at The Racecourse.

Tucker finished his spell with an excellent 4-25 analysis as South African pace man Avron Roulstone (3 for 15) and James Morris (2 for 37) also bowled well so that Stackpole relied on Huw Davies (22) and Richard MacKay (23 not out) for their runs.

Tucker also showed he is a better batsman than he has sometimes been given credit for in a long first-team career as he scored 20 alongside Richard Davies (17) and John Tooze (31 not out) so that The Town eased home on 91 for 2, despite Mackay’s 1 for 19 and Huw Mason’s 1 for 16 in the Stackpole cause.

Umpires: John Austin & Tony Waldeis
Scorers: Ann-Marie Jenkins & Delyth Summons

An undefeated half century from Chris Goodridge helped Johnston gain an emphatic win by eight wickets in their away match against Whitland 2nds.

Seasiders win in table-topping clash

Saundersfoot (160 for 7) beat Pembroke (158 for 8)

Umpire: Rob Bellerby
Scorer: Adge John
Div Two - Cricket Reports - 1st June 2013

A classy 73 not out by Dai Davies ten boundaries) helped launch Saundersfoot to a three-wicket victory over Pembroke in this top of the table clash where fortunes ebbed and flowed throughout.

Davies had scored an unbeaten century in the Harrison-Allen Bowl in midweek and he certainly looked in good nick alongside Danny Caine, whose big-hitting earned him five fours and two sixes in his 58 runs before he got out with the winning post in sight.

Barry Evans acted as the backbone of the Pembroke innings with 68 not out (Seven fours and two sixes) as Nick Cope bowled really well for the Seasiders to claim 5 for 39 and found support from Simon Wood (1 for 1), and Davies (1 for 26) as Pembroke’s other major scorer was Phil Hay (36).

Jonathan Rogers (3 for 60), Ceri Brace (2 for 34) and skipper Sean Powell (2 for 26) all tried hard with the ball for Pembroke but Davies and Caine ensured Saundersfoot won in style to go top of the table by a massive 36 points after only six games.

Burton (145 for 1) beat Lamphey (144 for 7)

Umpire: Rob Cousins
Scorer: Helen Hodges
Div Two - Cricket Reports - 1st June 2013
Burton distanced themselves a little from the relegation zone with this crushing nine-wicket win over basement battlers Lamphey where good innings by Phil Sutton and Jack Davies were the key notes with the bat as teenager Davies showed his potential by also getting amongst the wickets.

Lamphey had Peter McGilloway (47, including five fours and two sixes), Hywel Gibbs (23) and Jason Oatley (23 not out) as their run-gatherers against Davies (3 for 25) and Rob Jones (2 for 25) before Davies struck 54 not out (12 boundaries) in an unbroken century partnership that saw Burton home with plenty in hand.
