Ed John square cuts a four for Whitland
Llangwm maintain winning streak
Llangwm (149 for 5) beat Whitland (145 for 8)
Umpires: Allan Hansen & John Williams
Scorers: Janice Brick & Janice Webb
Llangwm maintained their run of good form as they took on high-flying Whitland at Pill Parks and won with something to spare from an excellent all-round team performance.
Whitland made heavy weather of their start as Andrew Harries claimed 3 for 7 in nine miserly overs that reduced the visitors to 31 for 4 as Chris Inward grabbed the other wicket.
But steady knocks by Ed John (24), Kevin Pearce (31), Johnny Thomas (16) and David Dunfee (one four and two sixes in his 33 not out) took Whitland to a respectable 145 for 8 in their allotted 34 overs as Steve Mills (2 for 34) and Chris Inward (1 for 43) joined talented youngster Phil Llewellyn in claiming the rest of the wickets for Llangwm.
James Venables (26) joined brothers Chris and Steve Inward in taking Llangwm to victory despite useful bowling by Mark Lee (2 for 42), Johnny Thomas (2 for 27) and Iestyn Scourfield (1 for 28). Chris hit five fours and two sixes in a typically belligerent 36 and Steve struck eight fours and two sixes in his 54 before he joined his big brother in being well caught on the boundary by Dai Lee off the canny slow stuff of Thomas – but by then Llangwm were well on their way to a five-wicket win.

Izzard guides Cresselly to Llandigige Fawr success
Llanrhian (180 all out) lost to Cresselly (183 for 4)
Umpires: Trefor Evans & Huw Davies
Scorers: Jason Cole & Dave Richards
A splendid innings of 77 not out by talented young batsman Iwan Izzard helped Cresselly to victory over Llanrhian in a high-scoring tussle at Llandigige Fawr.
Llanrhian got off to a solid start thanks to Ben Jones (two fours and a six in his 39) alongside 35 from Gareth Davies (five boundaries). Jack Jones also chipped in with 16 but the main run gatherer was Geraint Morris, with a cultured 60 that contained four fours and a six as Steffan Jenkins (4 for 39), Sam Harts (1 for 27 in 12 overs), Ryan Lewis (2 for 52) and Bobby Webb (1 for 48) were the Cresselly wicket-takers in Llanrhian’s innings of 180 all out.
Izzard had nine fours and a six in his innings as he shared a stand of 66 with Damian Arthur, who had scored 38 runs when he unfortunately top-edged a ball into his face and had to retire hurt. But then Ryan Lewis replaced him and hit six fours and a six in his undefeated 41 to help steer Cresselly home with six wickets in hand.

Cole clinches Lawrenny victory
Lawrenny (114 for 4) beat Haverfordwest (113 for 7)
Umpires: Les Hastings & Dai Morris
Scorers: Malcolm Thomas & Jayne Cole
Lawrenny bowled and batted far better than Haverfordwest to gain a deserved six wicket win over a Town side which started the season well but has now lost several matches on the trot.
Haverfordwest found it hard going from the outset as Lawrenny bowled and fielded well so that only David Haynes (13), Simon Holliday and Ben Field ever looked settled. Field rapped three fours and a six before he was caught on the fence by Phil Cole off the bowling of Jamie Lewis, who claimed 4 for 29 alongside 2 for 20 from Steve Lewis. Holliday struck two sixes but was clearly hampered by a hip injury and eventua
lly had to retire hurt with 30 to his name and The Town had to settle for 113 for 7 from their allotted 40 overs.
Clive Tucker (2 for 29) and Josh Wilment (1 for 27) claimed wickets for Haverfordwest but Lawrenny had a match-winner in opening bat Andrew Cole, who carried his bat for 66 not out (nine boundaries). Cole found support from Steve Lewis, who had two fours and two sixes in his 32 before he departed, and it was left to keeper Hugh Griffiths (12 not out) to help Cole steer Lawrenny home with 19 balls and six wickets to spare.

Carew crash as Williams stars for Tish
St Ishmaels (137 all out) beat Carew (76 all out)
Umpires: Arthur Brady & Tony Waldeis
Scorers: Wendy Bradshaw & Ceri Davies
Carew’s poor start to the season continued as they were beaten by 61 runs in a low-scoring match by a gritty St Ishmaels’ side in which all-rounders Andrew Williams and Andrew Pawlett were the undoubted stars.
Williams provided the backbone to the Tish innings after they had lurched to 63 for 6 against Matthew Phillips, James Hinchliffe, Tom and Rhys Davies, scoring 50 (four fours and a six) alongside Andrew Pawlett (three fours and a six in his 35) and Dan Howells (23) as Phillips (1 for 29), Rhys Davies (3 for 26), Tom Davies (2 for 50) and especially James Hinchliffe (4 for 18) bowled for Carew.
Robbie Hicks had three fours and a six in his top score of 25 when Carew batted but only Brian Hall (11) managed double figures after tea as Williams grabbed 6 for 20 from his right-arm pace stuff and Andrew Pawlett (3 for 22) provided the perfect foil with his canny slow left-arm deliveries. Dean John chipped in with 1 for 18 and Carew were shot out for 76 in 30.3 overs.
