Neyland move closer to special treble
Neyland’s hopes of a special treble were kept alive as the current league leaders and DR Morris Cup finalists eased home against Saundersfoot to ensure another final, this time in the Harrison-Allen Bowl.

They were pushed all the way on an excellent batting track at Kilgetty but Saundersfoot will look back on the fact that when they were asked to bat first by Neyland skipper Gregg Miller they were unable to build on a speedy start and set a target of 139 to win that was less than they might have hoped for when they stood at 45 for 1 in six overs.

They could only muster 48 runs from the next ten overs as Neyland turned the screw with some great ground fielding in support of their bowlers, with Nathan Banner catching the eye as he grabbed three wickets and took a smashing catch at point to help Gary Lloyd get rid of the dangerous Phil Jones.

Dai Davies anchored the innings with 56 runs and there were cameos from Paul Mansbridge (13) and Nick Cope (16) but the rest of the Saundersfoot big guns failed to fire against Banner (3 for 33), Patrick Hannon (1 for 46), Gary Lloyd (2 for 32) and Nick Koomen (21 for 26).

Neyland started their innings in interesting fashion as Gregg Miller hit a superb boundary from the first ball of their innings but was dropped from a difficult chance next ball – and made the Seasiders pay in full as he went on to score 40 (six fours) in an opening stand of 82 alongside Paul Murray (33, including two lovely sixes).

Jack Franklyn (2 for 31) and Nick Cope (1 for 30) then set Neyland nerves jangling a little with three quick wickets, including Ashley Sutton for 12 , but then Andrew Miller (28 not out) and Nick Koomen (16 not out) settled things down so well that Neyland eased home by seven wickets with 11 balls still to spare.
