Umpires: Dave Brandon & Rob Cousins
Scorers: Janice Brick & Julie Davies

Carew finished their season on a high note which saw them easily beat lowly Llangwm by nine wickets at Pill Parks.

Llangwm, again without several key players, lurched to 5 for 3 before Will Beresford (44) and Joseph Kiff (37) put on 73 runs for the fourth wicket.

But once they departed only James Lewis (10) managed double figures against excellent bowling by Carew youngsters Steff Davies (5 for 12 in 3.5 overs), Rhys Davies (3 for 31) and Sean Whitfield (2 for 32).

Rhys Davies and Adam Chandler then gave Carew a solid start after tea before Chandler departed for 19 against Ollie Davies. But then Davies and James Hinchliffe set about the Llangwm bowling with such ease that when Davies launched the only delivery from home skipper Jonathan Twigg out of the ground for six runs they were home and dry in only 19 overs.

Hinchliffe had six fours and a six in his 35 not out whilst Davies rounded off an excellent season with five boundaries and two big sixes in his 54 not out.

Llanrhian defy all the odds

St Ishmaels (178 for 8) lost to Llanrhian (180 for 5)

Umpires: Allan Hansen & Tony Waldeis
Scorer: Wendy Bradshaw

Llanrhian defied all the odds as they not only beat S Ishmaels by five wickets but remain in the first division by dint of the fact that they leap-frogged over Llangwm at the foot of the table and only one team will be relegated because Cresselly Seconds finished runners-up in Division Two.

Cresselly 2nds can’t be promoted and so as a result, only Saundersfoot can be promoted – leaving just one team to make the ‘dreaded drop’ into the second division!

Tish had steady innings from Peter Bradshaw (29), Danny Richards (25), Andrew Williams (19), Robbie Thomas (13 not out) and Andrew Pawlett (17) before Dean John again supplied the necessary impetus as his 50 runs included four big sixes and a four.

It meant that Tish set Llanrhian a target of 179 for victory as Gareth Davies (4 for 42), Nigel Delaney (2 for 40), Matthew Bennett (1 for 40) and Jack Jones (1 for 15) were the visitors’ wicket-takers.

But Llanrhian knuckled down against Dean John (2 for 39), Andrew Pawlett (2 for 29) and Andrew Palmer (1 for 26) as skipper Ben Jones led the way with 71 not out (eight fours).

Other vital  runs came from Paul Lewis (seven fours and two sixes in his 52), Luke Jones (14) and Nigel Delaney (18 not out) as part of an unbroken sixth wicket stand of 52 with Ben Jones, who hit a boundary to complete their Houdini act, before the real celebrations began back at The Sloop in Porthgain!

Town stroll to easy win

Haverfordwest (156 for 1) beat Whitland (152 all out)

Umpires: Les Hastings & Dai Morris
Scorers: Natalie Thomas & Janice Webb

Haverfordwest gained an easy win to finish the season in joint second spot as they bowled and fielded well to restrict Whitland to 152 runs and then reached their target for the loss of only one wicket as Ben Field aDivision One Cricket Reports 31st August 2013nd Simon Holliday put on 126 runs.

Owain Evans (11), Steffan James (19), David Dunfee (20) and Dan James (16) all enjoyed little cameos but only Johnny Thomas ever stayed long enough to influence matters as he struck nine fours and two sixes in his top score of 69 runs. For Haverfordwest, there was accurate bowling by Simon Williams (1 for 27), Avron Roulstone (2 for 35), Clive Tucker (3 for 43) and Ajay Revu (2 for 2).

Ben Field and Holliday were clearly in the mood for quick runs as both hit the loose delivery to the boundary before Field eventually failed with his shot selection having hit six fours and a six in his 56 before he was caught on the boundary by Steff James off Matthew Davies, who returned expensive figures of 1 for 52.

Dan Cole chipped in with 10 not out as he and Holliday took The Town home, with the latter ending up on 81 not out that included ten boundaries and a six.

Unbeaten Neyland round off in style

Lawrenny (137 all out) lost to Neyland (221 for 8)

Umpires: Trefor Evans & John Williams
Scorers: Malcolm Thomas & John Laugharne

Neyland rounded off their epic season in real style as they travelled to Lawrenny for their finally match and maintained their undefeated record with victory by 84 runs.

Neyland batted first and their final tally was assisted by 22 extras as Nathan Banner (20), Gregg Miller (32), Andrew Miller (28) and Ashley Sutton (25) all contributed useful runs around some excellent run-gathering from Nick Koomen, whose boundary-laden innings looked likely to produce three figures until he was adjudged lbw to Alistair Edwards for 76.
Edwards (3 for 57), Jamie Lewis (3 for 52) and Brad McDermott-Jenkins were the Cresselly strike bowlers as Neyland ended up on a sizeable 221 for 8 in their allotted 45 overs.

Brad McDermott-Jenkins again topped the Lawrenny batting as his father Ian Jenkins (21), Andrew Cole (19) and Hugh Griffiths (15 not out) provided support but couldn’t stay long enough to influence the final verdict as Andrew Miller (4 for 19), Nathan Banner (3 for 31), Sean Hannon (1 for 22) and Ashley Sutton (1 for 2) were the successful Neyland bowlers.

Cresselly win well at the Lewis Lloyd

Narberth (158 all out) lost to Cresselly (190 all out)

Umpires: Huw Davies & Arthur Brady
Scorers: Peter Hughes & Dave Richards

Cresselly eased home to victory by 40 runs against Narberth in another high-scoring clash at the Lewis Lloyd Ground, a win that puts Phil Williams’ boys in joint second spot in the table.

Wayne Howells maintained his excellent form for Narberth as the veteran medium pacer grabbed 5 for 27 and found good support from Ian Hughes (2 for 43) and Jordan Howell (2 for 45).

Matthew Morgan again top-scored for Cresselly in their tally of 190 all out as the talented young opener stroked 54 runs alongside other useful innings by Simon ‘Snowy’ Cole (41) and Nick Davies (46).

Simon ‘Chief’ Cole (35), Mike Scale (28), Ritchie Adams (26) and Ian Hughes (19) batted well for Narberth after tea but no-one could build the big score needed to challenge Cresselly’s score. Bobby Webb (3 for 26), Sam Harts (2 for 26) and Harry Thomas (2 for 32) were the principal Cresselly bowlers in this success.
