The annual cricket club dinner for St Ishmaels C.C. was held at the St Ishmaels Sports
Robert Cockburn, the chairman, welcomed all present. Andrew Palmer, first team captain and Robert Cockburn, second team captain, gave their résumé of the season’s performances. Both teams experienced some brilliant, exciting games but there were also some lows with very disappointing results. Although the club has no junior teams at present, the juniors proved to be very keen, committed and successful in their involvement with the senior sides. The captains thanked everyone for their help and support, especially the club’s groundsmen, Mel Williams and Chris Bradshaw.
The following trophies were presented:
First team captain’s player of the year: Andrew Williams and Peter Bradshaw
Peebles Cup – best one-off performance for the 1st XI: Andrew Williams
Second team captain’s player of the year: Brennan Devonald
Eric Griffiths Cup – best one-off performance for the 2nd XI: Archie Smithies
Best all-round fielder: Jonathan Pawlett
Most Ducks in the season: Phil Cockburn, Jon Pawlett, Brennan Devonald & Ned Smithies
Players and committee members recorded their thanks to everyone who has given so generously in order to help and support the cricket section throughout the season. Bouquets were presented to Pops Joseph and Pat Williams and delivered to Mrs Liz Griffiths.
The catering, this year a BBQ, was expertly executed by Tish ladies, Sarah, Alison and Debbie, and was again thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated by everyone present.
Raffle prizewinners: Brennan Devonald, Phil Cockburn, Tristan Williams, Kevin Milich, Andy Palmer, Danny Howells, Andrew Pawlett and Tina John.
A very big thank you was extended to those who gave the raffle prizes, the caterers, all the ladies who provided excellent teas throughout the 2013 season, and to our very generous sponsors.
