Huw Scriven appeals for LBW as Adam James bowls to Kevin Pearce
Paul Davies - batted well for Whitland
There was a dramatic finish in the match at Llandigige Fawr where Cresselly chased down Llanrhian’s massive 217 for 4 off the last ball after losing three wickets in the final over.
Luke Jones stroked an excellent 86 not out, including two sixes and
Damien Arthur (three sixes and nine fours) batted really well as he led the Cresselly chase with top score of 72, ably assisted by Simon Cole (58) Matthew Morgan (24) and Nick Davies (26). Matthew Bennett (5 for 51), Wright (1 for 54) and Jones (1 for 60) were the Llanrhian wicket-takers but Cresselly needed just six runs off the final over.
Then they lost those three wickets in a dramatic finale where they had a two off the last delivery to see them home.
There was almost as dramatic a finale on The Racecourse where Haverfordwest tail enders Clive Tucker and Josh Wilment were the unlikely heroes as they came together still needing 18 and it was Tucker who hit a three with three balls remaining to see them to a one-wicket win over Whitland.
Whitland battled hard to reach 143 for 9 in their 45 overs thanks to Dylan Blain (18), Paul davies (34), Kevin Pearce (26) and Scott Newton (15) as Tucker (2 for 26) was joined by Adam James (3 for 49) and AJ Revu (4 for 20) as the main Town bowlers.
Revu showed what a good all-rounder he is with 38 runs in support of Jonathan Strawbridge (40) and Dan Potter (23) after they had lost Simon Holliday and Dai Davies from the third and fourth balls of their innings. David Dunfee (4 for 42) and Mark Lee (3 for 27) were the pick of the Whitland bowlers but they couldn’t shift Messrs Tucker and Wilment!
Champions Neyland won well against St Ishmaels as they comfortably chased down Tish’s 143 for 5 as skipper Gregg Miller announced his return from injury with a match-winning innings.
Peter Bradshaw (38) and Dan Howells (45) shared an opening stand of 85 for Tish but only Andrew Williams (21) and Johnnie Pawlett (20 not out) managed runs after that against Patrick Hannon (3 for 32) and Andrew Miller (2 for 27).
Gregg Miller anchored the innings with a cracking 61 not out and support from Henry Durant (38) and Andrew Miller (11 not out) saw Neyland home in 34.5 overs despite useful bowling by Williams (2 for 44), Andrew Pawlett (1 for 35) and especially young Jordan Milich (2 for 27).
The match between Lawrenny and Carew was cancelled and the game between Narberth and Saundersfoot fell victim to rain at an interesting stage where Saundersfoot had scored 161 for 7 in their allotted 38 overs.
